Talking PRINCE 2 PM training- help needed!!

Now I've got some spare cash, I was thinking of either getting a flat screen TV, or doing the PRINCE 2 foundation project management training course (3 days), to kick start my career.

Both about £700.

Anyone done this course, any tips?

Been looking for training places on the net, and most do the 3 day course for about a grand, but some do it for less cash. Any recommendations about training companies?

Cheers guys and gals!

We just got a LG 32 LCD. Very nice. Just waiting on my components cable for the PS2.

Spend the money on your family. Let work pay for this nonsense. Myself Prince accredited, but you can`t buy common sense or fix stupid.

Re: PRINCE 2 PM training- help needed!!

I'm a PRINCE 2 practitioner.

It's dead easy. I got 1 wrong in the foundation exam and 80% in the practitioner. Maybe it's because I've been a PM for the last 15 years

I'd buy the telly or look at something else instead. Hae a look at the APM.....

AFAICS PRINCE2 is just another "flavour of the month" development methodology. Unless you're planning to change jobs soon, there are many better ways of spending the money.

My point was that, unless you can expect to get the money back through a better salary within 2 years, it'll almost certainly be a waste to pay for the training course with your own money cos the fashionable methodolgy will change.

No family (i.e. swmbo or mini-me's) to worry about. Work pay for it? More chance of getting blood out of a stone , and yes I have asked! There's only so long you can go for without being developed!

I know what you mean, but I still think that there are better ways of spending the money than on buzz-wordy methodologies. For example, I'm working on Certified IT Practicioner, and then CEng status, but neither of those require specifics like Prince2.

Re: PRINCE 2 PM training- help needed!!

I'm going for skills that aren't industry specific and will be recognised internationally so I can work abroad. Project management is what I want to do, but I don't want to stay in one industry (adaptability is the name of the game!), which may be why my work only seem keen on industry specific pm training, and expect me to be in my current field for the rest of my career! NOT A CHANCE!
