| Briskodian | Re MOT headlights out of alignment I'm curious. The garage has adjusted mine for me saying they were too high, for a few pennies so not a cost issue. I had an ickle bump on the driver's side wing panel(?) and the MOT peeps said they'd adjusted them two years ago. Last year's MOT = no mention. This year they are too high I asked if they just go out of alignment on their own (given much speedbump travel). The garage (very nice one) said "Dunno, we have a calibrating tool that measures them." Fair enough, but I was curious as to how come they weren't aligned. "Maybe they weren't properly adjusted before." (My car shouldn't have passed its last MOT then, thought I, since it was the previous MOT which corrected the alignment.) "Yours are adjustable." (True but I wouldn't dream of touching that dial.) Have the regs changed in the last couple of years? Should headlights be checked periodically? Nice garage didn't know or want to comment if they went out of alignment, only that mine were (fair enough). Mine's a Fabia 1.4 8mpi Y reg by the way. Thanks and regards Mo |

| Re: Re MOT headlights out of alignment The adjustment can fidget out over time, particularly if (regardless of whether you use it or not) the lights have automatic or power level adjusters. Also, although I've yet to see any actual evidence of this, I've seen it suggested that replacing bulbs can change the aim. |

| Re: Re MOT headlights out of alignment Been through a car wash? Tyres at last test on 2mm???? now new so 8mm???? Loads of things can affect them including bulbs being incorrectly fitted Adjustment can now be done whilst the test is in progress , (its the only thing that can) We normally just do it but your supposed to record it as a fail on the paperwork then issue a pass HTH Phil

| Briskodian | Re: Re MOT headlights out of alignment Thanks for replies. Perhaps best to keep an eye on them periodically. We all play up when someone's lights are blasting us yet it's not really something you (meaning me) would be aware of. Ouch @ hypocrisy - pot/kettle We live and learn. Regards Mo |
