Should I or Shouldn't I ?

Well heres my problem, thinking about replacing my existing fabia 1.4 mpi (69bhp) engine with a 1.4 16v engine (101 ish bhp). Was off work the other day and decided to look about and try and get a price on engines, £500 + vat for a good condition 1.4 16v BBZ engine. Also to make this work I would need gearbox and ECU.
A few friends have said is it really worth it and dont bother but I am still unsure. On the other hand I will be gaining an extra 8 valves and another cam and with some tuning here and there I will be looking to get close to the 120 bhp mark (fingers crossed). I will be taking the car off the road soon anyway as I am half rebuilding it. I already have just about every single suspension component from front to back i.e dampers, springs, mounts, bearings, you name it I am replacing it.
Some other thoughts were to rebuild existing engine as its 7 years old with 75k on the clock but you can only get so much power from an OHV engine. People have also said just save up and buy a 1.4 16v fabia. My thoughts on this is that you get far more satisfaction with an engine you put together and built with you own hands than a factory spec one. I am also a 3rd year apprentice mechanic which I think will be a good learning curve for myself and put some of my college work into practice if I did " The Swap " but I am still unsure.

Well as a 19yr Old young gun Skoda Kid I am asking you boys to give your opinions .

Thanks

My opinion is that you'd be better off saving your money and putting it towards a faster car. After all, it's a big outlay for 120bhp......
