Angry Some people - Ebay

On the 19th December I won an item on Ebay, paid immediatedly on paypal and expected delivery to be a bit slow due to Xmas. On the 29th December I contacted the seller asking where it was to which he replied, i'm on holiday until 6th Jan but will get back to you then, I thought fair enough it's christmas. Anyway I emailed him today and got the response, sorry someone has sold your item but I can offer you a brand new one for £50 plus P+P (I only paid £19).
Was I right to send him a crappy email saying that this is a joke and it's people like him that give ebay a bad name, that I require my money back and compensation for the inconvenience.

What should I do now, wait for him to respond or start the item not received process.

Give them a little time to reply, but if they don't or fob you off, contact E-Bay and ask them to investigate, also give them some very poor feedback.

aswell, very poor show as you made a bid for and subsequently won a specific item which they went ahead and sold when technicaly it wasn't even their property as you had made an agreement(ebay is a binding contract) and made payment so technically it was your property.

I would personally think twice about leaving negative feedback (unless he's already left you positive) because he can quite easily come back and leave you negative feedback in retaliation, even though you've technically done nothing wrong. It won't stop it denting your eBay record and when it happened to me, eBay refused to remove it!

Another thing - make sure all your correspondance is through the eBay website, rather than through personal emails, otherwise eBay won't be able to track all the messages (which could have a negative impact on any intervention from them).

I agree with yashicamat on this - I had a problem (only minor) with something I bought when it arrived and left negative feedback (rather hastily I might add ) - then got some in return saying I was a bad buyer / don't use .
All this despite the fact I had paid immediately with paypal after buying it now and ebay refused to remove it.
IMHO ebay are a shower of the brown smelly stuff as in cases like I described the seller should have no chance to leave negative feedback after the payment has been made in full promptly.
After lots of snotty emails with ebay the seller contacted me offering to refund me in part and mutually withdraw feedback, which I did although I'm still waiting for the refund .
This experience has taught me to be extra careful with checking people's feedback scores and leaving democraticly worded positive feedback even when the other person has been crap! - Not really how the site should work.

Re: Some people - Ebay

I think the whole ebay feedback system is a bit of a con. As stated above people rarely leave negative feedback in fear of retailation. I've had one or two bad experinces and luckily not lost too much money (probably not a lot less than I have saved).
