Re: Stiched up !

Hi Dunno about this. Wondering if you should seek proper advice. First, I don't know what I'm talking about so this is just me.

My dad had some skin cancer moles removed from his back (so obviously not the same thing) but they used proper stitches. My thinking is whether it's the injury or the sticky-stuff on the plasters. That said, steristrips are about as anti-allergenic as you can get, so I'd be wondering if the itching is a symptom of a possible infection in the wound.

Like I said, I know nothing, but I'd be inclined to find out, ad it's a long time till Monday if it's something that need sorting straight away.

Love
Mo

Re: Stiched up !

With respect Mo. Ithink Jon has access to probably the best medical advice available in the country!
He may develop signs of abnormal goings on at any time of day and has to be aware of them.
Mind you his extra ear and leg help if he has to react quickly

What? You mean there might be someone out there who knows more than someone who knows nothing? Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs!

Seriously though, I reckoned jonny boy had shaved specially for the photo and forgotten that it might be those little bristly things that you menfolk grow that can't escape into the fresh air (and god help if they grow back inwards, from the little I know).

Dash! Just can't stop can I?

Re: Stitched up !

I had one removed from my back a little while ago - it looked like a gunshot wound by the time they had finished digging, and yes it did itch like hell.

I thought those were children?
And unless somethings changed I thought you women grew them? Us menfolk just provide the fertiliser..
It's alright, I'm going now

Yes, my dad said they used "blanket stitch" to pull it together (nearest equivalent would be taking a carrot tap root out) not good. Straw hats, high-octane sun filter cream A & B folks methinks, especially for little ones.

It's depressing to me that I let my little one run around in the sunshine without blathering him with sun cream till I learned better, but my dad spent only his annual holiday in the sun, so whether there's a genetic influence I don't know, but a business opportunity for Victorian parasolls is not outside my thinking.

This is perhaps off topic (edit, because it would be nice to know what causes these), apols to jonny boy if it is (off topic), and perhaps you can give us your thinking after reading these replies?

Mo

PS FAO graham smith: See, those little things that we women grow only have to be fed and watered periodically methinks Note to self *Must work out how to do that now there's a hosepipe ban here as well Being silly Mo

There are 5 internal (dissolvable) stiches and 5 external (to be removed 7 days) stiches. The butterfly ones on the outside are just a back up.
The picture was taken by SWMBO to change the dressing.

Re: Stitched up !

Well, if your Missus is anything like me, she'll be nagging at you to make sure. I don't like this itching business one little bit since wounds tend to itch when they are healing, not when just done, and especially as the wound is not covered by a suitable aerated dressing, especially if only from yesterday.

Another forum member describes me as a terrier (a doggy that won't let go) - OK put me down as a terrier, but I'd make a phone call at least - in other words, ask the Missus

Again I really do know nothing

Best regards
Mo

Re: Stitched up !

I had a couple of stitches in my lip a few years ago, itched whilst they were in and itched for a while after they came out.

It doesn't half tickle as they are pulling them out too!
