| Teach Yoursself style books Could have put this in Tech Shed, but seems sloder to Hotel in it's focus.... I need to learn some new skills. I've opted that Java would be good, or C#. I'd also like to maybe investigate some networking areas. Despite my love of Flash etc, I'm not graphically gifted so thats not really going to happen. So who does the best "teach yourself" book? SAMS? For Dummies? PeachPit? O'Reilly? I need something that's instructive, teaches with examples, gives exercises, but takes me from Step 1. Install this software.......... Suggestions? |

| Re: Teach Yoursself style books I'm looking forward to formalising my Java knowledge via certification so I have a "Java blah blah Certification book" which seems to work from basics (assuming you know C) and covers everything. If you want any more details, I'll post them up later ![]() Chris

| Re: Teach Yoursself style books I've tried to block out my limited programming experience - 1st at uni was assaulted by Turbo pascal and Prolog. Did a very basic short course on VB, but only got halfway through before it was terminated. I'm currently eyeing up the SAMS C# stuff, coupled with the .Net Core Requirements self-paced training kit.....I believe Col G might have some experience of this - how is the MCSD stuff to learn? Also about to purchase CCNA training/teaching kit. The only "investors in people" award around here goes to me. |
