Re: TOP GEAR - New Series Tonight 8pm 7/05/06 It was funny, but then it is the Jezza comedy show these days and very little to do with cars and actual driving reports etc.

Re: TOP GEAR - New Series Tonight 8pm 7/05/06 The convertible Espace looked so coooooool though - until they put that silly roof on it ![]() Oh and you must have missed Captain Slow's traditional review on the Honda Civic - "it costs about as much as a Focus and a little bit less than a VW Golf, and so far it's managed to go round quite a few corners without crashing..." ![]() Last edited by ncarring; 07-05-2006 at 21:17.

Re: TOP GEAR - New Series Tonight 8pm 7/05/06 Jeez - you got a whole new series of Star in a reasonably priced car, the fastest road car in the world bar one, and some surreal madness, and you're disappointed - what were you expecting - for them to test drive the latest Ferrari F1 car? ![]()

Re: TOP GEAR - New Series Tonight 8pm 7/05/06 I'm genuinely interested to know what people expect. I think actually Top Gear is so good, it's set itself hard standards to live up to. I'm sure there are those who would wish for a return to the William Woollard and Chris Goffey days of sheepskin coats and earnest reviews of the latest Austin Maestro or Renault 16, but I don't think many people buy cars based on TV reporter's views these days. I certainly don't. Alternatively you could have a motorsport focussed programme, with virtually no contact with day to day motoring at all. I think Top Gear does a reasonable job of finding the middle ground. We had 2 reviews of "normal" cars, the Civic and the little convertible Micra. We had the Koenigsegg, and we had a few mad bits with the convertible Espace, the new track car, and the dog (I agree I didn't follow the thinking behind the dog). The alternatives on other channels are pretty dire by comparison, IMHO.
