Default is this normal for a new car?

hi just a question before i go back to skoda to complain.

heat setting in the middle, when my air con is first turned on it blows out really hot air, to get it to be a normal temp, i have to turn it all the way to cold then up to the temp i want... is this normal?

also the direction of the air, if i want it to go only on the windscreen i select windscreen from the knobby thing, but i still get a fair amount of air coming out of the front vents... is this normal??

any help greatly appreciated :o)

The Air con is climatic so there could be an issue, you shouldn't need to go all the way to blue though, might be worth getting them to check the temparature

The air through the front vents is normal, you can switch them off individually.

I've never experienced such a thing with my Climatic.

When you set the button to blow only to windscreen, no air should come from the middle vents (red circle in the pic), but air still comes from the lateral vents (number 2 and 3 in the pic).

If it's anything like the Climatic in my Fabia, it struggles a bit to supply the right temperature of air if the cabin temperature's already close to the temperature it's set at. So say it's 18 inside the car and the dial's set to 18, it's a bit of a lottery whether hot or cold air will come out of the vents. Turn it down a bit, and it blows cold, turn it up and it blows warm, but it never really settles to a perfect 'Goldilocks' temperature. Then again, after the quality of the air con in my old Renault, anything's been a bonus, so I've never been concerned enough to raise it with the dealer...

The problem is, you're expecting air-con to act like climate control....

I agree I had a toyota corrolla that was no better than blowers despite it was air conditioning. Happy to have a Fab2 with better air con than that.
Frankly I dont rate air con at all and would willingly swop it for 3 year free servicing any day.
I think my new Fabia 2 TDI 80 PDI 1.4 is working exactly like yours. If anything I find modern cars a little hot with small vents and little air flow. My wife has a Toyota Yaris her air con is her windows.

Hi
I had similar trouble and had it fixed under warranty - it's the bowden cables, one had come adrift from it's mount and was catching over a period of the temp' control dial.
