Replacing Level 2 steering wheel

I had recently considered trading the Roomster in, but after several horrifying trade in offers I've decided to keep it and add a few extras.

Up to know I've fitted front / rear mudflaps, sill protectors and a rear bumper proctector. I have now obtained a leather hand brake gaiter, leather gear knob / gaiter and a leather steering wheel. I'm pretty sure I can fit the handbrake and gear knob gaiters but am not sure if I should tackle to steering wheel due to the airbag and wheel sensors. I've checked with my local main dealer and they are working out a price for me as "they haven't done one before".

Is this a DIY job ? or how much should the dealer charge to fit the steering wheel. The Skoda accessories website doesn't list a job time to fit the wheel.

Re: Replacing Level 2 steering wheel

What steering wheel is it? Assuming it is a roomster/fabia one then it's a straight forward 15 minute job to change.

You'll need to disconnect the -ve lead on the battery and leave it for a few minutes before touching the airbag.

Re: Replacing Level 2 steering wheel

The steering wheel is the one listed on the Skoda accessories website for the Fabia II / Roomster and Octavia II (Part Number: FBA 600 000). It lists at an RRP of £157.50.

Re: Replacing Level 2 steering wheel

It'll just be a straight swap then, as long as the airbag is the same size/shape.

Re: Replacing Level 2 steering wheel

It's removed from the rear. If you rotate the steering wheel half turn to the right and look behind it you'll see a catch, this needs to be levered - It's a little difficult to explain to be honest but very simple to do. Rotate the wheel so it's half turn to the left you'll see the second catch. With that sorted then you can ease it out and release the yellow plug behind it.

If you were anywhere near me I'd do it for you.
