Hi, your fitter does not seem to mention that he is quoting for a detachable bar, if it is not and it is a fixed bar then you would have to unbolt the towball to fit the scout bumper cover.
I think your fitter is quoting you to fit to a Roomster and not a Roomster Scout.
The Witter fitting instructions can be found here. I'm sure once you have seen this you will see he has mistaken the Roomster for a Scout.
I would also assume for that price the electrics will be using a by-pass relay system and not a car specific setup. This might give you warranty problems so best to get the full facts of what he is fitting and how and check with your Skoda dealer.

My dad took delivery of a 1.4 petrol Roomster in Cappucino last week, replacing his MK1 Fabia 1.4TDI. It wouldn't have been my choice of colour but I must say it does look good and as my dad is now in his 70's he tends to wear the colour beige rather a lot and the cappucino colour compliments him rather well ..

I think the Roomster is a great looking vehicle,love the concealed rear door handles.It's much better than the new Fabia which I have to confess I think looks awful!! I cant imagine anyone wanting to buy a New Fabia because they like the way it looks!
My dad prefered the Roomster over the new Fabia and I think he made the right choice...

Take a good look at the Fabia II Combi... Then you can take that back!

Odd he went from the TDI Furby I to the Petrol Roomster. As the Roomster as well as it's clientèle are typically more suited to the TDI.

CONGRATS on the purchase & I definitely have to agree with you on the colour the only way to improve upon a Cappuccino Roomster is to have it in Scout trim...

I had the Skoda detachable Towbar fitted to my Roomster, here are some photos of how it looks. I'm sure I read somewhere that the Scout already has that silver panel which can be removed and hence does not show at all when replaced.

OK, took delivery of Roomster Scout in Cappuccino on Saturday. Toured local towbar fitters today and settled for a Westphalia demountable one with 13 pin electrics. £378.63 fitted.
The Scout does come with the removable panel and if I had decided on a fixed bar the bumper cut would have extended part way across the panel, not a pretty sight.
Job being done on Monday, I'll try to put up some pictures as soon as it's done (if the weather allows me to!).

Glad you are getting it sorted and hope you are happy with the Roomy. That seems like a more realistic price for a detatchable, I take it £269 was for a fixed bar then.

Further information.
I got a phone call from the towbar fitter this morning, he said he had quoted for 13 pin electrics for a general trailer and if I wanted caravan electrics it would cost an additional £30 +vat.. This puts the price back up to the other local quotes I got so it looks as if they're all singing from the same song sheet!
I have been told that the Skoda towbar is supplied by Westphalia so it shouldn't be a problem.
If it wasn't for arthritis in my hands I would have a go at fitting it myself but my wife says that I get like a bear with a sore head if I find I can't do things once I've started. So for domestic peace I'll go with the fitter.

Just a note ref. the Arfur. The Wesphalia bar has a twist kn0b detatch mechanism and the Skoda has a large lever. My Skoda lever requires quite an effort on the lever to get it to detatch. The video's of the Westphalia twist system seems a bit easier.
I dont know if this will help you decide.

I second that, it does take quite a push to remove and I'm always careful I have a firm hold while pushing so it does not smash into the bumper plastic as it comes free. I'm sure you could damage your bumber quite easily removing the skoda towball.

Also sometimes the lock springs back a bit after removal and you have to push again to free the key.

Lucikly the towbar only goes on and off for the odd tip run and camping holiday.

The dealer that fitted my bar broke off the lever before I even got it. When the Technician pushed down on the lever to detach it , the ball Assembly fell to the floor breaking off the lever. I know accidents happen but every time it went in to have a job done they managed to scratch or break something else. I no longer use them!

At last everything has come together, car, towbar and sunshine.
The towbar is a Westphalia and I understand it is the same as the Skoda one. I had it fitted by a local specialist, it took 3hours and cost £478 with 13pin electrics. There is an extra charge for caravan electrics although I don't know who would want 13pin for a box trailer.

The Roomster Scout does have the removable cover already fitted. It is retained by 2 Torx fittings and there is a suitable tool supplied by Skoda inside the spare wheel compartment.

I haven't figured out the best way to include photos so I have posted them to Webshots. I resized them for uploading so they might not be as good as the originals but I can upload those if necessary.

Looks like yours is the twist kn0b detatch as opposed to the Skoda lever action detatch. I think your version is probably easier to detatch. The Skoda plug in electrics only comes in a 13pin plug with which you use an adaptor down to 7 pin. Anything that just has a 7 pin will probably use a bypass relay.

Yes it is, although with arthritis in both hands it's still difficult, so I'm glad I went for the Westphalia. Mind you my first attempt at fitting with it in the locked position wasn't very successful!

Re the wiring; I was just surprised that there was an alternative to caravan wiring with the 13 pin connector. I just specified the 13 pin and made an uneducated assumption that as it had so many pins they would wire everything.
I should have known better, a bit like a full Scart or a "Lite" Scart I suppose.

Very happy with the car, my first diesel and my first Skoda. Only 500 miles at the moment, still on the first tank of fuel.......

So what is my original Skoda 13 pin socket ?

Is that fully wired or not ?

I've only ever used it for a trailer and more than likely always will but I'm still interested in knowing.

Not sure as I have only used mine for a light trailer. I assumed that it was just partially wired and there must be some sort of upgrade kit to the Caravan charger type electrics. I will look on the Skoda site later and see if it offers any clues.

There is only the one genuine tow bar electrics kit from Skoda at present so I can only assume that all 13 pins are wired. I might download a pin out diagram and test to see if they are all wired when I have a free moment.
