| Well, you may remember my '88 105 Lux recently passed the dreaded MOT, but things were not quite right. Clouds of billowing smoke from hot starts, rough running, bubbling noises from behind the facia and sludge in the oil meant the head gasket had blown. Well, being in Hertfordsire, and near to Dave's garage I dropped it into his caring hands a week or so ago for remedial work. It had a new head, valves, valve springs, liner shims, and full engine clean up and rebuild with new gaskets. New oil and antifreeze naturally. Well, I picked it up yesterday and what a transformation - I could hardly hold it back on the way home - it was leaving a 130 behind on some hills! I look forward to many happy miles in my 'new car' and am truly grateful to dave for his sterling work. I am no longer lusting after a 120 now .Thanks Dave - and it was a pleasure meeting you .Ian |

| Ian That 105 is in gorgeous condition, I had a look at it last time I was Dave's. Unfortunately I didn't take any foto's though. Still there's a meet in that area soon .... Sat 24 May at The Chequers in Ugley perhaps you ought to pop along and show your car off !!! See link below ... http://briskoda.net/forums/east-engl...y-meet/107406/

| Thanks for such a nice post Ian, I'm blushing a bit now! The pleasure was all mine, I just wish I didn't have to charge for working on such lovely cars. ![]()

| I'll see if I can make it - sounds like fun! Matt, I see you are in Hemel too (I live there). Perhaps we can meet up sometime at somewhere like Winkwell for a drink and a chat. Ian |

| Sounds like a plan. I'm busy this weekend but I'm free for the next one if you want. Matt
