I have seen a Roomster on the road - *blurry pics inc*

Hi,

As I was driving around Europe last week I spotted a Roomster. 2 new Octavia vRS's went past followed by a black roomster, obviously going somewhere for photo I imagine.

It actually looks quite cool, I look forward to having it in the showroom. Here a some blurry pics for you.

It's because ImageShack is stupid. Yeah I was pretty happy to see one, since I am going to have to sell these in a few months. I was expecting a cross between a Fiat Doblo/Vauxhall Agila/Toyota Verso thingy.

It seemed to go pretty well though, it must have been a PD TDi.

Single little exhaust out... hate to burst your bubble BUT it could be a 1.2!!!

Doesn't look bad... but i'd need to see it in the flesh.

The What Car review is the most negative review so far but still pretty good. Try 4Car instead:

Am I missing something as the Whatcar review gives it 4 stars and says prices are competitive.

Auto express like the Roomster.

I would like to see this in the flesh as well, altho the seats in the piccy abve look really funky, Shame abou the rest of the interior.

Re: I have seen a Roomster on the road - *blurry pics inc*

Launch over here is Sept 23rd.

The first UK cars will be 1.9TDi Roomster3's in Ocean Blue with the cornering headlamps/foglamps. Should be quite cool. The sunroof in the Roomster3 looks quite nice. I think it may even appeal to the taxi sector, because of the amount of useful space it has.

We shall have to wait and see. I don't know why the french dealers have got them already!

Skoda sponsor the Tour de France which starts next month and Roomsters will be the official course cars (or whatever they call them)

Longer than a Fabia, shorther than an Octavia, longer wheelbase than both.

Re: I have seen a Roomster on the road - *blurry pics inc*

Looks weird from the pictures, and too utilitarian and just like a Berlingo style van to car conversion. Then again I liked the Octy MK1 and the Fabia, but don't like the blobby Octy MK2.

Is the net result bigger inside than both with lots of room I presume?

Its a mix of Occy and Furby oily bits with the odd FELICIA part number thrown in for good measure !!!!! I know the rear beam axle is Octavia because i have been looking through EKTA at what to expect....ANORAK !
If you are in Pisa this week then you will see a load of Brit dealers getting a first look in.
I like it but i am not sure about the seat trim colours....we will see when it lands in September

Re: I have seen a Roomster on the road - *blurry pics inc*

Pic taken by me the last friday in march in Stockholm.

It´s a nice car and perhaps it´s going to get 4x4 soon.

http://auto.idnes.cz/skodovky-do-ter..._ak_aktual_fdv

I´m 186cm and when I first put myself in the driving seat and then put myself in the backseat I had around 20-25cm betwen my knees and the front seat.
Automatic gearbox for 1.9TDI before the end of this year.

The Roomster 4x4 sketch in the article you link to looks great. A stop-gap until we get the Yeti maybe?

Skoda will most likely produce the Yeti in 2008/2009. Should be interesting!

Re: I have seen a Roomster on the road - *blurry pics inc*

Our company Director went out to Pisa last week for the first drive of the Roomster, and came back very optimistic. He says it drives and handles extremely well and showed excellent build quality with good fit and finish - Certainly a match for what else is on the market in that segment. It's styling is obviously quite adventurous for Skoda and might not suit all tastes, but maybe it's a pointer as to how Skoda are thinking for the future, getting away from 'safe' styling and being a bit more creative with their products. Come on Yeti - We have had loads of customers asking when they're coming out, soft top and hard top would both be a roaring success I'm sure.
