noise inside the car

Hello.I want to ask you why I feel and hear the engine , so loud , inside the car??Thx.

Have you set the tappets recently? would you recognise timing chain noise? Either of these can make the engine noisey. Also minor exhaust leaks can make a surprising amount of noise. Also might be worth fitting the bonnet sound proofing from a later injection favorit.

It is true that I have "some" exhaust leaks , but I don't have the money and I was thinking if there is a "solution" for "covering" those holes (poxypol ??).The timing chain : I have no ideea how it's sound.... .I am thinking : it may be from the bonded rubber mountings??I never set the tappets.

Use 'holts gun gum' for your exhaust, it works a treat and doesnt cost more than about a fiver.

A very good ideea.I wonder : it will work with RTV Silicone GASKET MAKER ??It says it work up to 343 C degrees.

I have wasted a lot of money over the years trying to repair exhaust leaks with bandages, special pastes and gums, and even having them welded. None of those repairs worked satisfactorily for any length of time and I wouldn't try any of them again.

HAve to say the only repairs that have worked for me for any length of time is welding and exhaust welding can be quite tricky.

I had gun gum paste on the exhaust of my estelle and that worked a treat until the box rusted off!

This only works for a single biggish split. If you're got pinholes in the pipe look elsewhere.

Buy the following items - a 400g or 800g steel ("tin") can of food, 2 Jubilee clips and 2 exhaust bandages.
Eat the food, wash and dry the can, cut the second end off the can, and cut it lengthways, so you get a sheet of plated steel.
Read the instructions on the exhaust bandages, and follow them up til they're in place, but placing them either side of the split.
Wrap the can around the pipe with the ends over the exhaust bandages, securing it it with the Jubilee clips.
Follow any drying or other post application instructions about the exhaust bandages.

My dad did this once, and it held for 2 years or more, certainly until after he sold the car.
