The S110r I had used replaceable element oil filters! But I believe it was possible to convert it to run the rapid type oil filters instead. Its worth noting the same oil filter as the rapid is used on the ford kent x-flow engine, which means fitting kits should be dead easy to source.

Not fitted an oil cooler to a rapid.

What engine is your rapid running? 120 130 135 or 136?

The Jikovs need servicing as they get older theres a few parts in them that age badly particularly diapraghms. But the webers are a better carb, well worth using. You can also get kent to make up a warmer cam as well, old escort x-flow cam profiles actually suit the skoda engine very well!

You can still get fully built competition engines from CZ at very reasonable prices as well, I believe last time I checked a warm street 1400 engine was about £750 But they can get hold of everything down to forged crank rods pistons etc. I believe I heard of a guy doing strengthened gearboxes for the rapid \ estelle as well, although he wasnt cheap - he was the same guy doing boxes for the octavia WRC at the time .

I know you're now using a sandwich plate, but I think there are two threaded plugs on the left had side (as you look at it from the back) of the engine about half way down - I think these were for access to the oil system for fitment of a cooler - not sure if they were ever a factory option (maybe on the 'sport?')
