Talking Rapid project, help!

I am the proud owner of a non-running Rapid. It actually used to run very nicely until the Lambda sensor fried. Now it sits in a garage waiting for some TLC.

I've finally saved up some cash to spend on it, but need soem help as I have very little experience with engines. I really want to just get it back up to its original standard as that was the car I bought and loved.

If anyone is prepared to put in some tiem and effort restoring this little piece of Czech history then I would be very interested in talking to them. All offer considered!

Re: Rapid project, help!

Would the 136 Ric have a lambda sensor on it?

Re: Rapid project, help!

nope, a 135RiC is more likely to have one though

surely it's just a matter of replacing the sensor - all the plugs are easy-off too...

Re: Rapid project, help!

I'd be very interested in helping to get your car running. The RiC model is a very rare car, most were converted back to carb.

Re: Rapid project, help!

That was the model I was going to buy in about 1989 , the Rapid RIC , wasnt it the 'run out' model of the rear engined cars? I remember seeing an article in Auto Express about it , and I wanted one at the time , but talked myself into buying an Escort instead....oh dear.

Re: Rapid project, help!

...I had a 135RIC and the lambda sensor was faulty and caused the engine toi run rich, car would just cut out, normally at junctions or at the lights. They run Bendix/Renix injection/ECU which is roughly the same as the renault 5s I think.
I had the lambda replaced with a generic one and still had the same problem, so sold it on ebay.
The guy who bought it replaced the lambda with the correct one and is running fine to this day. Best thing to do is junk all the french crap and use the Bosch mpi system or replace it with a 1.3 felicia or 1.4 MPi fabia motor

The 135Ric is a rare model, only approx 1200 made. They were designed for the canadian, austrian and UK market. Single point injection and they have a closer ratio box than the 136 rapid. The only difference with the 135 engine is that the compression is slightly lower. They arent as quick as the 136s due to only having 58bhp against the 136s 62bhp.

Just replied to your PM Rapid-owner.

Anyone know what the post from someone saying I refused to help is all about?

Re: Rapid project, help!

The answer to that is in your past, after putting the olive branch out several times. I thought i would try once again to get a Favorit engine converted by yourself. This was done by email. It now doesn't matter as i have upgraded to a Felicia.

I don't even know who you are, what's your real name? I don't remember ever refusing to help anyone with their Skoda. I don't remember receiving an email regarding a Favorit engine conversion either. What conversion was it you wanted doing? Did you send the email to daverapid@hotmail.co.uk ?

Sure was...we sold every one of our Skoda Owners' Club umbrellas that day!

Looking forward to seeing this RiC, can't be many left now with the injection system still fitted.
