| Re: Real Mk1 Octavias Ooo, that is nice to see. ![]() I have sat in one of those old Skoda Octavias at the Skoda graveyard in Bridgwater. Wouldn't be a bad place to go and salvage some parts. Also they have a turbo charged Estelle (I think that is what it was) Not OTR unfortunately but still interesting to see the history

| Re: Real Mk1 Octavias Guys, all I meant was that, when I think of John giving an Austin/Morris 1100/1300 a "d@mned good thrashing" with a small tree, I think of the "Gourmet Night" episode of Fawlty Towers, rather than of Clockwise. |

| Briskodian | Re: Real Mk1 Octavias I've heard people from the owners club refer to this semi mythical place Apparantly it was a franchised main dealer back in good old days. Any older car that came in as a trade in, simply got stored around the back Some cars have been there over 20 years. I seem to recall that despite offers, the owner simply won't sell anything. I'm in that area next week, so I'd like to have a scout around myself.

| Re: Real Mk1 Octavias I heard exactly the same thing Darren, sad really, especially as there's meant to be 3 S110R's in there, 1 of them being a Pickup conversion

| Briskodian | Re: Real Mk1 Octavias gcr31463 mentions about an old Octy in "On the Buses". The three films made for cinema were shown on Bank Holiday Monday and in Mutiny on the Buses there is one passing Stan's bus as he goes to Windsor Safari park. |

| Re: Real Mk1 Octavias Beautiful cars, and the Super Saloon is just lovely. But No. No no no. They do not resemble a Volvo PV 544, not even a tiny bit: 1960_PV544.JPG The 1960 Simca Aronde on the other hand: 1960SimcaAronde.JPG |

| Re: Real Mk1 Octavias Yes I remember him , he made the front page of the Berwick Advertiser with that car (i think he had the piccy cut out on the board in front of his car) I also remember the green S110R he had (IIRC it was an 'S' reg) I used to see that going around Berwick too back in the day. The cars are now in the hands of an enthusiast based in the Newcastle area I beleive , and the Felicia is being restored. (I think the guy was on here-username of 'oldfelisia' or something) Its a shame the Skoda Club no longer take cars to the BVAC show , (now held at Thirlstane Castle in Lauder)

| Re: Real Mk1 Octavias I'm sure I've seen a PV estate too; it was that, rather than the sedan that I was thinking of. Don't ask me to find photos though, cos I've only ever seen one or 2, and they were both in mags, or when I was driving the other way. |

| Re: Real Mk1 Octavias Oh yes, there was a PV estate as well, marvellous car for builders, electricians and so on - lots of room - the PV445 or, later, the "Duet". And I agree - there's something about its rear end that comes close to the old Octavia estate: duet.jpg But it had double doors at the rear, hinged left and right - as on an old Bedford van. |

| Briskodian | Re: Real Mk1 Octavias There are a few original Octy's in the Czech Republic still in use. The last time we were in there in Plzen in our Octy before we changed to a Superb, a red combi pulled in near us at the supermarket. IM000349.jpg |

| Briskodian | Re: Real Mk1 Octavias Just a bit of an update ... The blue saloon had a pre-mot check ther other day. 3 bulbs, wipers & poor brakes were the only issues highlighted. I've called in today & dropped some parts off for it, so hopefully on the road soon. The red combi, is almost ready for the bodyshop, for a full glass out respray. Thanks for all the kind comments. cheers ... Darren

| Briskodian | Re: Real Mk1 Octavias Latest news .... The blue one is in the MOT station as I type. I'm going to collect it (on a trailer tomorrow) so keep your eyes peeled (& cameras to hand) if you're out & about between Royston & Scunthorpe. A weekend of tinkering (& polishing) lies ahead! Yipee !!!!
