| Briskodian | Re: Real Mk1 Octavias Yeah, I guess that's what makes a Rapid Sport sporty!! Daverapid's garage at Royston seems to be the unofficial club house for SOCGB as everytime I go I bump into another club member there!! In fact on Saturday morning there were 5 members there, I'd guess that between us we owned over 20 Skodas!! |

I'll hazard a guess that Kenton's got them, no wonder I'm always confused, as to the who owns which car, although it's fairly safe to say that Kenton, will have owned most of them at some point! I only took those 2 of that Rapid Sport, I didn't read the badge till I put the pix on the PC. It belongs to Graham from the South Coast, so they'll be some more pix on their site I guess. cheers .. people have mentioned. Although I did wash & dry the blue one a panel at a time, only because I was worried about it going rusty instantly. As you saw on Sunday on the green one, I never realised you had to dry cars!! But then again until I got the green one I'd never washed a car either! In my experience they reach a certain point, then there's some heavy rain & they look cleaner! | |

A picture would be nice Looking through the museum catalogue I notice Laurin & Klement produced a Type A in 1905-1907 a Faeton type S 1911-16 a Faeton type So/200 1920-22 The Skoda badge replacing L&K in 1926 the next model with a name rather than a number ... was the Popular roadster 1934 - 1946 then the Rapid cabrio prototype1937 the Superb 1938 - 1949 the Tudor 1946 = 1952 the Vos (government only model) 1948 - 53 But no earlier mention of Octavias, although that's not to say, the museum catalog is a full list of models produced. Must go back soon

| Re: Real Mk1 Octavias Yeah Caz, I'd be more likely to buy a calendar with photos of classics in it than one of moderns (current and last production series). |

Whether they be marked 440 (Spartak)/445 or Octavia / Octavia Super were MK1 regardless of grille or are you saying there's an even earlier model ? Then post VAG you have 1998 - 2004 (FWD Mk1) 2004 - current (FWD Mk2)

| Briskodian | Re: Real Mk1 Octavias Been down the lock-up yesterday to work on the blue one, many thanks to Dave Watson for his invalualbe assistance again. Clutch has been adjusted, not perfect but much more driveable now, oil & filter changed, air filter changed, oil pressure sensor changed. Car runs quite sweetly now, fingers crossed should be fine for next saturday's big day!! cheers ... Darren |

several of them were looking at some pix of the combi, and cooing "aww it's cute" & "it's sweet". Unfortuantely they didn't create a new "Cute" tax band which is even cheaper than the (free) "Historic" one. There can be insurance issues with such hire-outs, although if there's a nice pay packet on offer to cover that. I think I'd mainly consider them for static scenes, as the gearchange pattern is "interesting" to say the least. Some of my other toys (that I co-own) have been used in TV & films, but it's easier to place strict conditions of hire & use; on preserved locomotives, than it is on cars as there's less of them about! cheers ... | Briskodian | Re: Real Mk1 Octavias Took the old blue beasty for a little test run last night. I felt like a movie star, as people had absolutely no clue as to what it might be! Called around at Dave Watson's house, his wife & daughters all said "aww isn't it cute" So it's officially confirmed as cute! I'm still finding the gearchange "interesting". Plus, as an added bonus, getting in the TDI afterwards, it felt like driving a brand new car! |
