Just found this on ebay.Advertised as a Jubilee Special edition etc, but no Jubilee Estelles were ever made as a run-out model, so reckon its just a fancy set of stickers.Nice looking Estelle though.Lets hope a Skoda Owners Club member gets it and appreciates it, and it doesn't end up being used as a donor for a kitcar or hillclimbs! SKODA 120 L estelle, special edition! 5speed - rapid on eBay, also, Skoda, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 09-Mar-08 21:06:09 GMT)

Skoda GB did do 700 special 20th Anniversary Estelle models back in 1986 to celebrate their 20th year of omporting into the UK, all finished in china blue, with 'SKODA 20' stickers on the front wings, a certificate and some Bohemian Crystal Glasses. The only other official Estelle specials were the 120LX and 120LXE models , produced in 1987 with the 130 & Rapid rear suspension and SKODA 21 on the front wings, to celebrate 21 years of Skoda GB. Dealers may have done their own specials, but none would have been official Skoda GB ones.

Anyone else not believe that a 120 would have had a passenger airbag?

that head doesn't look like the head on my favorit engine?!?! does the 1128 (or whatever it is) have a different head??? If that is the case and the block is the same that head would be a great addition to a later lump because the fav has a much larger 'pocket' in the head so so that head would nicely up the compression ratio! any info about that head from anyone?!?!?!?!?!

Yes, the 120 has a 5-port cast-iron head, like the 105 and 130 models. All Favorits have 135/136 engines with an 8-port aluminium head. I can never remember if the bore spacing was the same on 120/130 and 135/136 engines, but even if it is and the head is therefore notionally compatible it would be a lousy 'upgrade' because the breathing on 5-port heads is fundamentally inferior to 8-port (not that people didn't manage to make them go pretty well with careful work) and iron head on ally block was never a recipe for long head gasket life. That car does sound to me a bit like an abandoned restoration project!

The airbag was a mistake on the listing. Its been changed now. Its got two possible engines to choose from, the original one which needs a new head gasket or the recently fitted one which has an unknown engine problem. Its got loadsa bits and looks the nuts. Definatley worth it if you have got the time to sort it out.

Errm the car isnt as i had hoped unfortunately. Its been recently bodged in a very bad way. On driving it home the wishbone collapsed at 60mph on a dual carriageway. I nearly killed myself and another car overtaking me at the time. I will take some pics, but from what the recovery company have said the suspension was lethal. The wrong shocks were bodged onto the car and rather than fixing properly onto the wishbone the wishbone was cut open and thin plate Aluminium used. The car has been sitting so when I use it on the way home it just gave way.I thought I had a couple of months tax and MOT to sort it and from checking the paperwork today I have 2 weeks tax and MOT left. Looking at the engine its leaking oil everywhere. The headgasket was replaced and all i can see is orange instant gasket everywhere. Im amazed the engine even runs . Oh and all 4 tyres are illegal.I will take some pics, but to be honest i really have not got much enthusiasm for it at the moment. ![]() Also the paperwork confirming its a Jubillee and something special is missing unlike what was stated. Its just a run out 120L5 model with a gold stripe down the side. Doesnt even have a sunroof. Last edited by Skoda932byVW; 16-03-2008 at 23:11.

I would sue the blokes 'arris who you got it from.Obviously he did the bodges to it in the past 11 months since the last MOT, else it wouldn't have passed.Looking back now at all the sh**e he kept adding to the listing, it did look a bit suspect.Good luck with it mate, dont let it put you off the rear engined skodas, just glad to hear no one was hurt. By the way - he's got this one on there now-http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/skoda-estelle-120-l-1985-23000miles-rapid-sky-blue_W0QQitemZ220213575699QQihZ012QQcategoryZ10091 9QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Last edited by skorob2007; 16-03-2008 at 23:21.

Oh dear oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that old chap - just as well it only 'almost' killed you and the other geezer! You'd almost certainly have some recourse against the scumbucket who sold it to you, Ebay or no Ebay, possibly including criminal prosecution. If you can be bothered and that's your style.... In any case, why not publicise the a**hole's Ebay handle here to reduce the chance of anyone else here running up against him?

Looking at the state of the other one he's selling, I wonder if he pulled the same stunt with the suspension on that??? C218ETA was a bloomin minter about 2 years ago when it was for sale on ebay - shame someone had to wreck it like that.

Hope you're leaving strongly worded negative feedback on ebay - my guess is this guy won't be offering a refund. Looking at his feedback for buying, he has bought about 4X 120 headgaskets so have to wonder what's been going on there.

I somehow missed this thread when it started. This bit in the listing would have made me reach for my barge pole: "The head has been skimmed a fair bit by a professional company..." A 'fair bit'??? FFS!

| I know this isn't something you'd want to hear... but because it was a private sale.... it's kinda "buyer beware" situation. All you can do now is make sure no one else buys anything from him in the future. Get the pics of the accident and the state of the car online... and post the URL in the ebay feedback.
