| Slow/seized wipers Long time, no visit! Hope you all had a Merry Christmas. I'm currently having an issue with the wipers on my M reg Favorit. On the motorway the other day they became very sluggish, like the blades were sticking to the screen. They eventually jammed upright on the screen. What a nightmare. I had to keep pulling over to try and un-jam them and clear the windscreen. If they were jammed all the time then I could investigate properly but, it does it sporadically. On the return journey they were fine and worked normally until about halfway into the journey when they jammed again. Grrrr. We've had the wiper mechanism out of the car and have taken it apart and greased everything up. They haven't jammed again since but the wiping motion of the arms is still sluggish and I'm sure it's just a matter of time..... Is this a known fault? Is there any way I can check if the motor is failing? Anything else I can check? I don't really want to start forking out for parts if they're not at fault. And it's highly unpleasant, not to mention dangerous, driving without being able to clear the window. Ta in advance for any advice. |

| Re: Slow/seized wipers Make sure you don't get your hands caught in the linkage while the wipers are on....I can tell you from experience that it hurts a lot!

| Re: Slow/seized wipers Mine has a weird problem with the intermittant wipe. Quite often it dont work and you can hear a clicking from the fusebox area. But, leave the fuse box door open and no problem. Weird.

| Re: Slow/seized wipers <back at the original problem> Have you considered using a screen wax, and avoiding the problem rather than having to fix it? |

| Re: Slow/seized wipers I think I might try and change the blades. I think they might be a bit sticky. That combined with the obviously sluggish wiper mechanism is not helping. |

| Re: Slow/seized wipers Its possible that the brushes are on the way out in the motor. I had this with a type 2 camper. |

| Re: Slow/seized wipers I think it must just have been a bit dry and seized up. It seems to be working now since everything was greased. Fingers crossed. |
