| Briskodian | tyre size As I dont yet have the Rapid Ive bought, can anyone tell me what the standard tyre and wheel size is. It has the typical 136 rapid alloys. Can a wider tyre be fitted to the wheel than standard? |

| Re: tyre size Standard size is 165/80 13s, thes standard rims will take upto a 195 tyre but iv found 185/60 or 185/70 to be best depending on the look you want. 185/60s will give you better acceleration and better handling but top speed will be down and the speedo will read faster than you are doing

| Re: tyre size I tried most sizes on my Rapid, and found the standard size to be the best. Get a decent make (I like Vreidestein Sprint) and you will find that there is both good grip and balance. I know people want more grip on dry bends, but in the wet the narrower tyre works best. That is on aspect of the Estelle/Rapid I like best - feeling the car grip nicely on the bends, but with just the hint of a tail slide (passengers don't usually notice ).Ian |

| Briskodian | Re: tyre size Thanks....I think the standard tyres look a little balloon like so possibly the 185/60 is the one to go for. Having come on here intending to make the ultimate Rapid to use in competition instead of my bike engined single seater I'm beginning to think about keeping it as a toy for the road with a bit of gentle modification and holding onto the race car!!! (the race car upset me the other week by blowing its engine and costing me lots of money ....but is now running again)On the subject of wheels and tyres...other than the Beetle type Empi wheels, is there much else available in 103x4 PCD??? |
