Default What engine???

Hi, i'm thinking of getting a 120 or 130, i just need to know what engines will fit the skoda gearbox, i'm think i'm right in believing the fiat 1.6 tc engine will fit but what about other fiat engines or Lancia/Alfa as i'm struggling to find a tc motor, any input is muchly appreciated. many thanks.

I dont think any other engines fit without an adaptor plate....but I believe the Fiat tc plate is still available. If youre getting a plate made up then the sky is the limit. If you want an easy fit job with a bit more power then the Felicia MPI engine is a fair step up from a 120.

If you were using the MPI engine you'd either need to get the whole lump and loom and transfer it. You'd need to run a swirl pot or engineer a return pipe into the fuel tank (or possibly buy a 135 RIC tank if theyre available) and use a fuel injection type pump. Alternatively you could do what I'm doing and junk the injection and fit a good old fashioned Weber or for real power - Webers.

If you are to use the mpi lump , the easiest thing to do is remove the injection system and fit rapid 136 manifolds and distibutor + one or two other needed bits

When i fitted a mpi motor to my own est i wanted to use the injection system however it needs a hole drilled into the gearbox bellhousing to mount the crankangle sensor and the felicia starter motor would need modded to be mount to the box (it is matched to the mpi ring gear)

but otherwise the loom for the engine injection/ignition is self contained and uses six wire from the multiplug-immobiliser-revcounter-fuel pump power feed(through a relay)-ignition posi-main posi-and an earth
i really noticed the change in power between the 1300 and the 1 litre engine (0-60 went from 24.5sec to 13 sec)
but then the fabia 1.4 8valve looks like a good transplant too!!!
hope this helps somewhat
