| Just thought I'd bore you all with a tale of a works rally skoda from the 80's Myself & a couple of mates went to follow the RAC rally through Wales in about 1983-84. In a mk1 Escort 1300GT .We got to a stage near Swansea I think and being teenagers had no idea where to go to watch the fun. As we were driving around the 'parc ferme' we spotted what looked like a full on rally skoda 105. I said to my mate lets follow this thing to the next stage and we can park up and watch the cars fly by. Ok said my mate. How we laughed as the little car rev'd & rev'd its way up towards the forrests near Margam. 50-60-70-80mph and not braking for bends or bridges, within a couple of miles we were left sliding & skidding in the wake of this amazing machine. Definately NOT fast but revs and handling to shame the best. We sat in silence most of the way home and funnily enough to this day non of us in the car that night have ever taken the michael out of a Skoda since |
