VAG trackday school Knockhill 2005

Big thanks to everyone who came along, turned out to be a great day, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. My car is fine, just a stupid silicone radiator hose that came loose which caused me to spin off when my left rear tyre hit the coolant, right on a corner!

Not a good thing to happen, although I've been in a Scoob when the turbo blew up... Poor old Gossy was NOT amused.

I think Jim was trying very hard to hold you off, someone said he had a drift on at one corner! Here's the cool vid from DJRichard+ of my 'incident', at least my consolation was it wasn't my fault through bad driving, coolant is very slippery stuff!

Your hybrid turbo Fabia would have been very quick round Knockhill too Barry.

I did yes, he was quick going uphill on the straight, couldn't catch up, all that torque in a little Fabia - I was impressed, but I was catching him when I spun off!

Turns out I had a massive boost leak, running only 6PSI instead of 20, no wonder I felt slow, all fixed now though - underside checked for damage, none - coolant drained off and refilled, hose replaced, new DV - car feels awesome again!

Brian has NO chance next time!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended the VAG track school at Knockhill, both on and off the track. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and are keen to do more trackday stuff in the future, everyone's track manners were spot on and that's how it should be. I hope you learned plenty about yourself and your car. I really enjoyed myself, even with only half boost and a spin - still want more!

Most people usually say "I need stiffer suspension and better brakes", usually followed by "more power would be nice"!

There will be more VAG-only track stuff at Knockhill in the future, this year and beyond - hopefully those who attended and many more are keen to attend!
