I bought an Octavia 4x4 hatchback from a Skoda dealership that was closing down. I got a fantastic deal on it along with the advice to take it to Parkside when I wanted any servicing doing.

I do a high mileage and it didn't take long for it to need a service at 24000 miles, so I took it to them. They did a great job and also noticed some minor problems that I hadn't and they sorted them out under the warranty.

The cost of the full service including the long service interval oil, and a new set of wiper blades was about £170, which I thought was very reasonable.

I'll certainly go back to them for the next service.

Fair to say I crapped myself and wondered what I'd let my vRS in for when I turned onto the cobbled street and saw this dealers shack! However in the end all proved to be a mild case of paranoia.

First variable service completed with no drama, £162 all in (long life oil). Was even pleasently suprised with the Fabia 1.4TDi loan car. Only downside was they didn't clean mine, still the difference in price between them and there nearest rivals should allow a few Tesco jet washes!

Parkside have now completed 2 services, 2 warrenty jobs. Would still reccommend them to anyone. Don't let the old buildings put you off. The first time i went there i nearly turned round but give them a try.

When I thought I'd cooked the clutch, I took it to Parkside for them to check. They didn't try to con me and told me it was fine. The courtest car was acceptable, although I did have to pay £15 to insure it.

All in all, a good dealer.

The exterior appearance of the dealersip is a bit ... offputting, but don't let that worry you.

Best offer (inc. part-ex) of the 3 dealerships I visited.

Choice of registration numbers.

Car delivered within 2 weeks, and in very clean and presentable condition.

Dealer spent half an hour explaining all the controls of the car, including all the "secret stuff".

Very happy with the dealership. Would use again.

Re: Parkside Skoda - Bolton

I found this dealership by accident via my Sat Nav after my front grill came of going up the motorway. On first impressions I was worried little back street shack. But I booked my Car in for 14:00 the following day as they had to order the part in. I was also getting them to do some warranty work and replace the centre storage unit on dash with the airvents below.

I sat in the dealerships today and waiting for them to complete the work which took just over an hour and a half from arriving to leaving the dealership, during this time I just observed the running of the dealership, very friendly and helpful people who know there stuff and have time to help you to include the Vicar with a really old Skoda Felicia who had his in for an MOT, explained exactly what they had done and the minor problem he had reported had been fixed without charge and his car had a clean bill of health.

They appear as focused on the original Skoda's as the newer ones and will happily discuss either to great detail. Can't wait for my next service to be due because it will be off to them without hesitation.

Re: Parkside Skoda - Bolton

This is the dealership I used for my first (and so far only) service. They did the job and found an ABS fault I knew nothing about, which was fixed under warranty - although admittedly after 3 seperate visits due to the part not being ordered. Always got a courtesy car if ordered in advance.
As with previous posts, don't let the backstreet look put you off, and do bring a map if you're not local.
The only dealership I will use. (Horners Bury is also a possibility but the parking is too much of a pain).

Re: Parkside Skoda - Bolton

Friendly small dealership, good level of service, polite and quick! In comparison to Horners in bury they are out of this world.

40% cheaper and 100% more interested in the level of service they provide.

Asking questions like 'are there any problems with the car?'

Horners could only aspire to be this good!!

Thanks parkside!

Re: Parkside Skoda - Bolton

I cannot praise this Garage enough, I had my Octavia Vrs serviced there and they were really helpful. Recently my bonnet catch broke, took it to Parkside and it was fixed within three hours under warranty. They told me my third brakelight was not working and ordered one the same day. They did the job while I waited three days later. In that time they bonded it as well UNDER warranty.

They maybe a little Oldy Worldy, but they will always have me as a customer because of there freindly and very helpul service staff........

Re: Parkside Skoda - Bolton

Went to Parside recently when looking for a new/2nd hand car.
Very friendly and decent people.
Unfortunately they didn't have what I was looking for, but I would have had no problem buying from them if they did.
They are not a Skoda franchised dealer, although I think they are an approved repairer and service centre.
They seem to be part of a group that also own a Diahatsu dealers over the road. For some reason, their main web-site (http://www.parksideskoda.co.uk) only lists a few Skodas in their used car section, but the Diahatsu site has a lot more available (http://www.parksidedaihatsu.com/used/)

Re: Parkside Skoda - Bolton

Just got to say how good the quality of service is at Parkside.

I popped in this lunch time to get a rear wiper blade for my Octy and came out having only paid £3.85 as that was all the change I had on me.

Seemed to be run by people that cared.

Might no longer to be a franchised dealer for new sales, but I really got the impression that they love working with Skoda's. The place is a bit old worldy but all the better for it. Loads of old paper cuttings from the '80s on the walls. A pity that dealers like these are loosing their new car franchises.

If Slyks in Macclesfield mess me around again (they lost a service booking for our Fabia) I might get servicing of both our cars done here, even if it is the other side of Manchester to us.

Re: Parkside Skoda - Bolton

Found this dealership whilst studying in Bolton....

Had my 40k Service done here, as others have said miles cheaper than any other dealers in Manc. Don't let the apperance put you off the staff are cracking. I got a brand spanking 1.2 Fabia as a C/Car the first time, when I returned they said they had found a fault on the recircualtion valve and fan, They ordered the part booked me in three days later and sorted it! However on this occasion the C/Car they had booked for me had been VOR'd by the previous customer, the service boss was very apologetic as they only had a BATTERED felicia in but I was only using it for the day I wasn't bothered and they waived the usual £15 insurance charge!

Top notch 5 star service, and having read some of the other comments on my usual dealer Claybank, i'll prolly get my new Octy from here when the time comes.

Re: Parkside Skoda - Bolton

Popped into Parkside today and was delighted to bump into Richard, the former Service Manager for Horners Bury. He has been there for the past 18 months. So good to see a familiar friendly face and this can only be good news for Skoda owners in the Bolton & Bury area.

Re: Parkside Skoda - Bolton

Totally agree with the above post - It is good to see Richard at Parkside. I worked with him previously at Horners and know that they didn't deserve him. He looks after my Fabia 1.2 powerhouse which is a driving school car. I've yet to find a pupil who doesn't think it's a brill little car.

Fantastic dealership! Bought my T Reg Octavia from them and their aftersales dept is excellent.

They have sorted all the niggles I've had with the car.

Will definately use them again!

Re: Parkside Skoda - Bolton

For this dealer too

I haven't bought a car from them but I have been for a Fabia test drive and get my parts from them.
Parts are well priced
£11 per wheel cylinder compared to near £20 each for a Nissan one when my sisters Micra needed them

The fact that they are not Skoda franchised anymore is not a real problem.
These guys know their stuff and not just Skoda stuff either as they made the loacl paper after hiring a senior mechanic from a rival Ford garage

I would get my car serviced there but i know the owner of another garage.

I have been to a Franchised Skoda Dealer (Claybank? somewhere near the Eccles interchange) to arrange a Roomster 48hr test drive but they never rang me back.

I'm not to bothered by the "old building" looks as it has more charm and character compared to a newer modern building.
