I first used RK Oliver to service a Felicia I had bought else where when I moved to Belfast. I have since bought 3 cars from them. A new Felicia LXi estate, a used Felicia GLXi for my father and just this week an Octavia 1.6 Classic. I have found them to be efficient in terms of servicing all my vehicles, however I do have some criticisms. I had a problem with the alternator in my estate, which damaged the battery. The alternator was replaced under warranty before the battery damage manifested itself when the car failed to start on Christmas day. I called the AA (the free membership which came with the car). They replaced the battery and charged me. They should have charged Skoda for the battery. Olivers where very reluctant to give me the price of the battery. It all took letters to Skoda Uk and several personal visits to Olivers before the owner (Mr Oliver) over ruled the service manager and wrote me out a cheque. My other complaint is that they do not valet used cars before selling them!

About 3 weeks ago I purchased a 1999 Octavia LX from RK Oliver. The car is in good condition etc but I have since discovered that what the salesperson told me about the cars spec was not true. Essentially he told me the car was the same spec as the 1.6 Octavia Classic. However the LX 1.6 engine is less powerful and the car lacks anti-lock brakes.


When I discovered this I went back to them, but despite the fact I have been a regular customer, and they had told me lies about the cars spec they have only offered me one free service as compensation. Refused even to upgrade the central locking to remote central locking which would have cost £130 and would have left me happy enough to believe that the misinformation was a simple mistake. Even less happy as on Monday when I approached them they initially indicated that they would do the upgrade.


I will take my future business to one of the other Skoda dealers.
