Depends on the salesman , Mark was eager to assist , did their best , failed on delivery date but provided courtesy car for 2 days . Underpriced invoice for Fitted extras . and gave me a full tank of diesel plus floor mats . Will update when service required .

Obviously ahead for sales the month I visited. Looking at Fabia vRS, went there first and asked them to name a price as starter for ten but wouldn't even do that as I hadn't been anywhere else. I did go somewhere else and that place got the order!

Re: Dutton Forshaw Skoda - Maidstone

Bought my second hand fabia 1.4 from them in june. sold the car by a member of staff from the citroen dealership so starts well, phoned a couple of times about arranging a pickup date of my choice. after having the car for a month decided to put in aftermarket stereo phoned dutton for the plastic fascia, the parts department refused all knowledge of such an item exsisting even with the skoda part number, so used sherlodge garage for this. took the car back to them in november due to intermedtant pas greeted by an abusive technician.

moral of the story i wont be using dutton again

Re: Dutton Forshaw Skoda - Maidstone

I've never bought anything more than a pair of windscreen wipers from Dutton Forshaw but I have spoken to them - both in person, and over the phone - on a number of occasions. The gut feeling I get is that they either don't know anything about Skodas or they simply aren't interested in their customers. Even the wipers took 10 minutes to look up on the computer. Was there some rocket science going on that I missed... or was it not rocket science?

My Octy has it's 60k service coming up soon and I'll either be going to Ashford or Meopham (Whitehill - I can't find them in this forum but I spoke to them a lot before buying the car and got good vibes).

re: Dutton Forshaw Skoda - Maidstone - NO LONGER A SKODA DEALER

Not the best for most things in my opinion.

I used them when they were an MG dealer ( about 3 years go), took my old MG ZT for some work to be done, went to my wifes office nearby only to see my ZT on 2 wheels( not literaly, but you get the picture) coming round a corner and nearly wiped me and my son out in my wife's car!!

Made a complaint and the attitude was " bovered?".

Not much better as a Skoda service centre either I'm affraid. Ordered some rear parking aids, had to go to the parts department and order them myself, much to the frustration of the bloke behinde the counter. ( Still waiting for some Vrs matts ordered 18 months ago, need I say more?? )

The "bovered" atitude is still there, depending who you speak to.

Used them a few days ago due to a fault in my parking aid. Fixed without a problem!!!

There was a different girl on the service desk who could not be any more helpfull. Perhaps they read the reviews ?????

Bought my Octy there 2 years ago , never took it to them for a service . The showroom is nice but service centre ( the service desk have no idea ) Assume Techies are ok , but after my warranty work for new Stearing Lock , wher i new more than the service desk , that it does not take 6 weeks to get replacements , would not recomend them for the quality of service .

re: Dutton Forshaw Skoda - Maidstone - NO LONGER A SKODA DEALER

Hi there

Took my car in a couple of weeks ago for its first service. I reported intermittent problems with the engine management They rang in the afternoon stating they may need the car overnight as the problem was being hard to diagnose also the brake fluid needed to be changed and a new tyre was required. I told them the lease car company needed to authories the work. 30 minutes later they called again stating the car was ready. On collection the tyre and brake fluid were not changed ( they didn't need to be) and the car was fully legal. for me supersizing services isnt the way to value customers I will not go there again and have notified our internal lease car dept of my experience who will ensure that the 700 lease car users do the same.

To note they did the same to a friend of mine the same week, replacing discs and pads on a Citroen C7 people carrier with a £500 bill he complained to citreon UK who got the bill waived

re: Dutton Forshaw Skoda - Maidstone - NO LONGER A SKODA DEALER

Dropped off my Octavia to Dutton Forshaw this morning, encouraged by very nice voice on the phone. Car in good shape with list of small errors and niggles, rather than serious faults to be done under Skoda Extended Warranty:
- notorious boost pipe leak report on cold mornings resulting in repetitive 17705 error and engine management light (it's that hose replacement, version A to version C, some 35 quid bit of rubber)
- broken exhaust mount producing juddering sound in low gears
- Starter motor squeeling when firing up from cold
- Intermittent error 01039 (Coolant Temperature Sensor short) when I park uphill
- Drivers seat moving slightly when cornering

They called in the afternoon, confirming all of the faults and codes which I provided on the piece of paper and said Skoda Warranty won't cover any of them, except starter motor.

I have to say, I do find the rejection of warranty slightly odd, as I had Skoda correct minor issues three times already, at different dealership, never had to pull out a single penny from my pocket. Fair enough, interior trim, exhaust mount, these could be considered wear and tear, but temperature sensor and pressure pipe failures, especially if they create engine management problem and limp mode light and the problems were published in Skoda's own tech advisory? That's just odd.

But ok, let's forgive the whole idea of Skoda dealer inside Citroen courtyard, let's forget 7 hours wait and being stranded on outskirts Parkwood as their courtesy cars are few and booked far apart. Let's just give them benefit of a doubt and just presume Dutton Forshaw clerk wasn't trying hard enough to explain all the problems to Skoda Warranty....

What gets my goat is how things got off the hook when I was shown the repair quote.
The bill for replacing:

- one rubber pressure hose
- one exhaust bracket (£4.00 incidentally)
- one coolant sensor
- one set of rollers for the seat

came up to tenner short of £400, included 4.5 (!!!) hours of labour and most rudely there was also absolutely unexaplainable in these circumstances "diagnostic fee" of £79.31 regardless of whether I agreed to repairs or not?

Needless to say, at £80 to get nothing fixed, have them to nod to my list of faults and errors and get insulted by insane quote, my day trip to the outskirts of Maidstone to see Dutton Forshaw in their Citroen premises has proven to be the most expensive "WTF?" in my driving life...

---------------------------------

EDIT: On Thursday, June 5th, all of the faults that Dutton Forshaw claimed were not covered by warranty, (with small exception of seat rollers which are regarded as wear and tear) were sorted under extended warranty by Trans City Skoda in Walthamstow without a single penny requested from myself. Turns out if there are items to be fixed under warranty, any diagnostics are also paid for by Skoda.

So either staff at Dutton Forshaw in Maidstone is completely disinformed and are not trying hard enough or they attempt to push clients into paying crazy quotes outside Skoda regular itemised hours on purpose.
I think a polite letter to Skoda is order (if someone could suggest best point of contact, please PM me). They should send a "mystery shopper" to Maidstone dealership, I think it's time someone investigated what on earth is going on in there...

re: Dutton Forshaw Skoda - Maidstone - NO LONGER A SKODA DEALER

Dutton forshaw of maidstone sound great on the phone and in adverts but beware

so far on my brand new car that i brought from dutton's ive had a fault with my fuel flap, it was repared with super glue that i was charged for!!

Booked a service, took time off work, got there no one had any idea i was coming and was turned away. About two hours later i had a phone call asking why I hadn't taken my car in for its service!! They tried charging me for a missed booking that i had turned up for!!

Sold the wrong oil twice by there parts desk

Rear brake problem they wont fix

Asked to pay them to look at my rear brakes when the car is brand new

Then told the brake problems were all in my head, when they are as plain as day to everybody else

Told if I drive the car harder the problem will go away
(its used on the road not a race track)

Was shouted at by there service manager and then she put the phone down on me.

Now I have got the Area Technical Manager coming down to have a look at my car as they cannot sort it.

Oh yea developed a front suspension problem and was told that its due to the car being driven to hard!! I cant win!!!

You have been warned!!

re: Dutton Forshaw Skoda - Maidstone - NO LONGER A SKODA DEALER

Thanks Richie and Mike, I have to say I’m shocked at how our service bays deal with these issues! One of my greatest annoyances with the setup here is the service dept being so far away that I rarely get to see or hear of any issues.

I would once again like to say if you have any problems with the service dept, please ring 01622 699265 and ask for me (Dean). I can’t promise that I can sort every issue, but I have no problem in getting stuck in and seeing if a different approach helps move things forward. At the end of the day if people are getting annoyed with service, that could put them off coming into buy their next car which directly effects me and my work mates here.

Or PM me if that’s easier.

I was not impressed with my just in warranty mk1 octy VRS 40000 mile service by Duttons.
After being given a fixed price for the service I was rang on my mobile a couple of times whist at the Zoo with 3 kids...not best environment to think straight.... suggesting extra works such as cam belt (bit early), brake fluid change etc.
I had an exhaust bracket broken which I was informed was not under warranty and was charged £55 +vat to fix. It came loose a few months later and I was p******d off to discover id paid £55 for a jubilee clip. ***********
