Excellent experience ordering a car. Saleman (Ray Dove) was extremely helpful and even rang back when he said he would, even thought there had been no progress.

Can't wait to pick the car up!!

Drove by Winters, just to have a look-saw a Fabia vrs in the showroom, I didn't know this car existed! Ray Dove the salesman put trade plates on and sent me off in it. Interesting car, stupendous mid range. No discount on the vrs, but offered £600 over book on my saxo vtr. Thought about it for a couple of days then went back and did the deal.
Looking forward to picking it up. Winters have run this garage since before the dawn of time-the old man Fred, died some years ago had a steam traction engine which he used to run in the local carnivals. On the Isle of Wight bad news gets around very quickly amongst us locals, this garage has always had a very good reputation.

Had intermittent misfire and engine warning light while on Isle of Wight. Called in at Winters without an appointment and at lunchtime, so expected a long wait. Car was seen within 5 mins, VAG-COM diagnosed a faulty coil pack. Replacement fitted right away, quick road test, and I was away less than 30 minutes from arriving. Well done Winters -Excellent result.

Re: F H Winter & Sons Ltd - Ryde, IOW

This is my local dealer so naturally i went to see them when i wanted a fabia vrs.

Salesman Ray Dove let me take out the fabia for a good few hours on my own so that is a big plus.

Only downside is not enough movement on haggling so I am ordering elsewhere and saving a considerable amount.

Will make further comments when it comes to servicing or any warrenty stuff.

Re: F H Winter & Sons Ltd - Ryde, IOW

This is the only place I've really ever bought my cars from.
Always got over book price for my trade in cars....always managed to get a few hundred quid off screen prices all be them a bit steep sometimes.
Got £1000 off our 54 plate Octy 2 which was a huge bonus plus £3000 trade in on the most bashed and beaten Kia Rio owned by my other half.
When my other half got pregnant Ray Winter done a backward deal on my vRS for a cheaper car of which I was most grateful..had £1000 in my pocket...bought a Subaru Impreza, had it three weeks and loathed it. He took the car back and let me get something else...how good is that!!
Servicing is pricey, but customer care is excellent. Warranties are dealt with quickly and efficiently and courtesy cars are free and always available if you ask in advance.
One more point. When the Fabia came out in 2000 I ordered one and there was a 6 week wait. The car I had was written off. Winters gave me a Pug 306 TD to use while I waited for my Fabia to be delivered.
11 out of 10 for all this garage has done for me and my family.
If there were more garages like this life would be easy.

Re: F H Winter & Sons Ltd - Ryde, IOW

I took my vrs to Winters to have the well known rear heater sticky switch sorted. They obviously knew what to do because I saw a little slither of plastic that had been shaved off and this coincided with what I had been told would happen by a well known skoda tech.

I have the stutter and they hadn't heard of it although Skoda uk told me they had sent everyone a bulletin. Anyway, I told them what SUK had said needed doing by them and they did it. They even offered me a courtesy car knowing that I hadn't bought my vrs from them which I felt went beyond what they had to do for me. Whilst it was booked in I asked if they could put the locking beep on via vagcom. They rang me and said they couldn't do it as it wasn't possible, In the end after I told them I had the codes (thanks to Stu's website ) and after I rang SUK who put me in touch with a tech who offered to talk them through it, it was done and they didn't charge me

It's quite surreal when you go there, it is like a typical authentic garage. All in all they have delivered the goods, when it's time for a service I will post again. Hopefully if Mr P goes for an Octy vrs it won't be such a hike in price difference so that we can support a local business like I wanted to when I bought mine
