However, the main problem was that even after telling them it needed "special" oil, they put the wrong stuff in. Itwas only after showing them the handbook after the service that they finally admitted their mistake. They did change it and I suppose they were honest at admitting it. Another gripe is they tried to charge me about £20 extra from their phone quote for the service |

| I bought a vrs Fabia from Barkers of Grimsby 4 weeks ago costing over £11000 paid in hard earned cash......When I got it home I found several faults which they have refused to fix!! According to Skoda Uk Barkers ARE NOT AN AUTHORISED SKODA DEALERS AND DO NOT OPERATE UNDER THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SKODA UK...So go to another dealers ...be warned!!!!!! Moderator's Note: According to SkodaAuto UK's site as at 9 June 2005, Barkers of Grimsby are listed as a Skoda authorised repairer and as a seller of new Skoda cars. |

Car in with five fault codes in computer, had no idea what the problem was so just reset and sent me on my way. |

| My car was ordered from here by Autofinders Ltd. It took a while to come, but it was expected due to specifying options. According to Autofinders there was no hassle whatsoever; they set one definate date the car would be ready to pick up and that was that. I got the car the same day and everything was |

| Bought my Octy vRS, new in July 05. At 10,000 miles the service light came on, so I rang the dealer in Lincoln (closer to work) to book it in. They asked why I thought the car needed servicing at 10,000 miles. When I told them I had bought it at Barkers, they said that Barkers regulary do this to new cars, to make the owners service them more than needed. Lincoln offered to reset the service indicator for free & told me to come back at 20,000 miles. |

| Just to add another one to the growing list. This is all true and can be varified, I had a major breakdown according to barkers new cylinder head gasket required, they changed that no better then it came to water pump faulty (same fault) chnaged but no better then they changed the thermostat as i told them in first place that took two weeks of it in the garage with no loan car over xmas period a couple of years back, after selling it via the brilliant Lincoln dealer (Hortons), the woman who bought it had the engine blow up, they accused me of having it serviced elsewhere and also of having none standard parts fitted, little did they know I had kept every repair/service sheet since new, they had refused to replace the engine for her until the very top Skoda boss heard about it through the grapevine informed them I had all the documents to prove they had fitted none standard parts oh what a shock, she had new engine ordered within hours, I also had work done there and it came back with engine cover parts missing they are a bunch of Cowboys Yes and they pulled that trick with the oil on me and two other people I know DO NOT GO NEAR THEM. I repeat DO NOT GO NEAR THEM S55 5NOB Last edited by superb555; 08-01-2007 at 10:41. Reason: Spelling |

| Dad went to pick up a Superb Elegance yesterday. Had paid a deposit last weekend after selling his old car on ebay. Had driven a superb and knew what he wanted. Agreed to go and pick up the one from Barkers yesterday, we drove 3 hours there, got there to find numeroud faults. No Service History, even though they had confirmed it had a "Full" service history, the wallet was there, but no books or anything. Rear tyres completely bald. Salesman said he couldn't tell if they were or not, but "if they needed chaging they would do it" It isn't rocket science to tell if they are or not, and how were they going to do it? No mechanics on site yesterday apparently. Dad asked for his £100 deposit back and thye said they couldn't do it as noone had the "card" to allow refunds on their card terminal. Dad started kicking up a fuss and sudenly a well dressed bloke came down, told dad did he want it in cash...and said I'll give it to you out of my own pocket then! VERY POOR service. Salesman have no idea. Preparation very poor, mud on the doors inside etc Bits in the car missing, complete set of floormats, umbrella, first aid kit etc... Stay Well Away!! |

| I'm just glad its not just me that thinks Barkers are the biggest load of rubbish under the sun. I got my 2005 Fab VRS from them last September and have had nothing but problems with it. The car's been perfect but the service i could write a book about. In a much shortened form.... When I picked the car up they'd lost the manuals and spare key. It took them a month to get me a spare key and 4 months to get the manuals. I'm still waiting for the folder they go in. When it went in for its two year service they told me it would be £250 because it had to have the brake fluid changed. Then once the car was with them they phoned me and told me it would be an extra £50 because the brake fluid needed changing! Erm no thats what you quoted me for. Needless to say I sent them packing and explained that was covered under the original quote. They also tried to get a new set of tyres and new wipers out of me. At the same time they were meant to sort a warranty claim and when I asked if it had been done the guy lied through his teeth and told me they couldn't find anything wrong. i went outside and checked the car and there was the warning light flashing at me. Not impressed. Needless to say despite Barkers being 2 minutes drive from my office I'll be taking it further afield in future. Stay well clear, trust me you will regret any dealings with this lot.
