Škoda Auto presents itself with an extensive exhibition introducing the history and the present of the Mladá Boleslav-based company to the visitors at this year’s Brno Motor Show. All 2006 model year’s models manufactured at the present time can be found on an area of almost 2,000 square metres. The leading crowd-pullers include an all-activity concept car – the Škoda Yeti. The Edice 100 limited series cars along with the historic Škoda Popular Monte Carlo draw attention to the important anniversaries commemorated by the motor company this year. The Škoda Auto stand is situated in the Pavilion F of the Brno Exhibition Ground. Without question, the biggest crowd-puller is the Škoda Yeti concept car the design of which resembles the Škoda Roomster study exhibited at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show. Using the Yeti concept, Škoda Auto shows its customers a new concept of car in the SUV segment while at the same time it demonstrates design and technological potential of the car manufacturer.

This year, Škoda Auto commemorates round anniversaries. Undoubtedly, the most important of them is the 100th anniversary of the manufacture of the first car: the Laurin & Klement Voiturette A car left the gates of the Mladá Boleslav-based factory in 1905. On the occasion of this anniversary, the car maker has made a special limited Edice 100 model series ready for their customers. It is based upon the cars currently offered by Škoda Auto – the Škoda Fabia, Škoda Octavia, a Škoda Superb – in the top-level Elegance equipment trim complemented by extensive extra equipment. In addition to the extensive above-standard equipment, exceptionality of this edition is underlined by a number of original features such as light-alloy wheels with special silver paintwork, a leather interior with exclusively designed light brown leather seats and glossy black Piano decoration (the Octavia and Superb). This year, it will have been 110 years since the production launch by entrepreneurs Václav Laurin and Václav Klement in Mladá Boleslav. The motor works’ eventful and long history is presented in a support exhibition under the name “The Car Maker of Three Centuries” arranged in Hall H of the Brno Exhibition Ground.

Of course, the manufacturer’s current model range is present at the Brno Motor Show as well – ranging from the smallest Fabia family through the Octavia model and up to the representative Superb. The exhibited cars feature several interesting innovations appearing as part of the new 2006 model year; production of all model families started late last May. There are two brand new metallic tints ready for all of the three model ranges: the Highland green and the Storm blue. A part of the exhibition are also the new Škoda Fabia Spirit and the Škoda Fabia Sport Line action models as well as the Škoda Fabia WRC rally special that recalls the Škoda Motorsport works team’s participation in the World Rally Championships.

The brand’s further activities in the field of sport are presented by the Škoda Superb car in support vehicle trim for the Tour de France bicycle race, of which Škoda Auto has been an official sponsor for the second year running. On the occasion of this year’s edition of the race, the Škoda motor company prepared the Škoda Fabia Combi Tour de France action model for all cycling fans. On the roof of the exhibited Škoda Fabia Combi Tour de France model, fitted with a longitudinal roof rack as standard equipment, there are new Škoda Slavia series bicycles offered on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the first bicycle manufactured in Mladá Boleslav.
