Horners Bury - no longer a Skoda dealer

Received a letter today informing me that Horners Bury is relocating its main Skoda operation to the Bury New Road site. But aftersales and servicing and warranty work can be done also at Horners Rochdale. The move takes effect from 1st December. They are having an open evening at the Bury New Road site on 7th December. I for one will miss the service provided by all at Bury.

re: Horners Bury - no longer a Skoda dealer

Took my Octy to be serviced at the Rochdale site, it was a shambles. The place was full of angry customers, and the service staff seemed to care not a jot. They didn't ring to say it was ready, and I had to contact them 3 times to find out. A part was needed that 3 weeks later they still haven't go in touch with me about, also the receipt says that they used semi-synthetic oil not the fully synthetic one that is supposed to be in. They claim it is fully synthetic, but how can you tell? They did not sort out the clutch judder or the creaking doors I asked them to look at. But worst still was the fact the car was left 400 yards away from the garage, on a road, unlocked and with the bonnet not properly secured, the release was still stuck out of the grill. I shan't be going there again, and would suggest if you live around Rochdale/Bury you try and find somewhere else. I'm going to try the Manchester site.

Horners Rochdale Ltd has been added to the Reviews section here and the details for Horners Manchester Ltd here have also been updated to include the fact that they are now a Skoda Business Sales Centre.

Don't foget about Parkside Garage in Bolton. They may not be franchised anymore, but so what! You still get your work done by Skoda trained technicians, (hell, these guys have been selling and servicing Skoda's since the original Superb's and Octy's!). With the big plus being the money you save because they aren't franchised. (around a 40% saving on average according to most people who have used them!!!). Then finally, you're getting Parkside's legendary customer service and attention to detail.

Just my opinion, but Parkside should never have been cut loose from the Franchised Network. For all their dedicated years of service to the Skoda brand they should have been awarded a lifetime membership of the Skoda fraternity.

+1 for Parkside they rock

They aren't a franchised Skoda deler anymore?
I'm not worried about that. They do geniune parts which is good enough for me.

I like the fact I can walk into there and look at the new Skoda models and things and asking about Skoda stuff.

What isnt there to like?
They are local, friendly and they know their stuff.

re: Horners Bury - no longer a Skoda dealer

I have been dealing with Parkside for about 6 years now. The servicing is beyond comparison, despite being a non franchised sales dealer. However I do believe that they are still franchised service dealers. I certainly don't intend to look any further!

Re: Horners Bury - no longer a Skoda dealer

Well I'm sparky's son and I'm annoyed that they've closed down. Not sure if anyone knew but I have a horners gold card (which I'm guessing any poor fool who bought their car from there has) which gives you 10% off the service costs.

Guess I'm going to bite the bullitt and go claybank. Can't wait for the warrenty to end so I can service it myself!

don't forget you can take your car to any t'wat registered garage for servicing to keep the warranty intact, not just the Skoda stealer. They have to use genuine parts though

Re: Horners Bury - no longer a Skoda dealer

I understand that bit but last service Horners came top because of the 10% discount they offered.

Looks like I'll be making a fair few phone calls next year.

Has that taken 2 years to reach you in India? See the first post in this thread.
