| Re: Regarding the F word ;) So we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Last edited by ncarring; 04-08-2006 at 10:21. |

| Re: Regarding the F word ;) Right it's an issue in the code, the check box that says don't show to these groups obviously isn't doing what it claims...I'll rectify.

| Re: Regarding the F word ;) Ok, quick update, in your user cp Link above. Navigate to edit options > thread display options > The item : Turn Link Words Off Allows you to turn off keyword linking for some categories. On Off Set that to off. Note his only applies to certain keywords highlighted. Let me know if anything is a problem.

| Briskodian | Re: Regarding the F word ;) Is that option available only to Freedom members? FWIW I've lost the plot on this whole thing: Blue links are to advertise of course, but they can disrupt the sense of a sentence even though quite irrelevant to a post (as we know). However, if those links are stwitched off at UserCP level, then the links won't show even when a member would like them to show, except without changing UserCP option back and forth depending on the post? Most members (Freedom or not) wouldn't know the UserCP route anyway unless they read the fine print, so would surely wonder what on earth was going on when their posts show links when others don't. Wouldn't they worry about security as to how Briskoda was invading their computer etc? TBH I wouldn't like to try to solve this problem as I don't know how much advertising you are committed to for an insurance sponsor (for example). My best suggestion would be that the computer picks up "link words" and then runs an intermediate signature line underneath the post but within the post field but before the signature field in case sigs are turned off. Saying... "Click a link for more information about the Briskoda Freedom package and Insurance" Just my thoughts. Regards Mo |

| Re: Regarding the F word ;) Mo, It only turns the auto linking off on freedom category words for freedom subscribers. I only find it intrusive if I move my mouse over each word as I read it. They are here to stay in one form or another as for one it's an effective way of prompting new readers to a service, for example, reviews or the partners section. On the flip side, if somebody were to ask, it's easier for you, the established member to simple say check out the reviews section, without having to go and find the reviews url. There is no invasion of your computer...the server renders the html code and sends it to your browser. It's my job to make the whole experince easier, part of this update will be to implement a platform to enable this. Hope that helps.
