Re: 52 Plate Octavia VRS in red £3,750 Hiya Dain, welcome to someone else near my neck of the woods Just wondered - is the cambelt/etc due on the May service you mentioned? Looks like quite a tidy motor, credit to you ![]() I hope you're doing something lairy with the van.. a chopped and slammed split with a 911 engine would be a start ![]()

Re: 52 Plate Octavia VRS in red £3,750 told by the dealers that its due at 100k on this engine code been serviced by Albar in m/sorrel I will check if someone needs me to. The van is a type 4 - yes I know but sooo much more practical than the bay we had. But yes your right lowered, 18inch RS4 alloys etc etc, in fact so usable the car is not being driven Last edited by youboughtwhat; 21-09-2008 at 19:07. Reason: more info

Re: 52 Plate Octavia VRS in red £3,750 I still think Type 4s can look great - they've got a pretty aggressive face when you look at them in the right way. I like the sound of the RS4 alloys, and if you could source a meaner bumper than the original it'd be a winner ![]() Might well be interested in your Octy though - I have a few things I need to sort out, but if it's still around then I'll buzz you for a chat ![]()

Re: 52 Plate Octavia VRS in red £3,750 I will check on the cam belt - however I know the car had done 60k at the last service and potentially would have done over 70k prior to next service - ten thousand service intervals (having paid them £34.00 for a set of wipers once I am sure they'd have wanted to do the work). Just rang the guy who looks after the local police VRS's he says there is a belt tensioner on these which extends the life the belt changes are at 80,000 100,000 or 120,000 miles the engine code for this one is AUQ if that helps. I will get a defintive answer tomorrow!!!! Last edited by youboughtwhat; 21-09-2008 at 19:45. Reason: more info added

Just to keep you updated re the cam belt is due on this car at 100,000 or every 4 years. The 4 years advice was issued by Skoda im May 2008 - just after my service was done. Nice of the dealer to ring me and let me know - anyway I will either get the cam belt done or reflect it in the price (but not dealer prices!!!)

Re: 52 Plate Octavia VRS in red £3,750 Are you sure someone hasnt got 100,000km and 60,000miiles mixed up - 100,000km would work out at 62,000miles which sounds right - 100,000 miles on a cambelt seems well overdue and almost in threadbare, valve crushing, piston clanking territory - I know as mine snapped and cost 2k to fix the engine! Looks like a nice motor tho! good luck!

Re: 52 Plate Octavia VRS in red £3,750 The service schedule as per ELSA (which goes over anything in any handbook or service sheet) states that the belt should be inspected at 60,000 miles and 20,000 miles there after, and must be replaced at 100,000 or 120,000 miles depending on whats fitted. This give to issues, how the hell can you look at a belt and say if its going to last (you cant) and thus if it does break over 60k then there in no onus on Skoda/VAG as it should have been checked and deemed unfit before that point. The lesson is, change the belt at 60k/four years.
