FIAT Doblo 1.9JTD ELX 53 plate Nov 2003 Met Steel Grey 27,500 miles only - £3,950

My wife and I were not planning to sell our much loved 'Dobbie' that we have owned from new, but we need an Automatic car and Doblos do not have an Auto version; thus we are buying a Roomster 1.6 Tiptronic and 'Dobbie' therefore sadly must be SOLD.

This is a fabulously versatile and spacious vehicle that is different from the run of the mill MPVs and 4x4s. It will seat 5 adults quite easily and has a good raised seating position that makes it easy to get in/out and give an excellent view of the road. The rear doors slide open (perfect for putting kids in the back without worrying about hitting the car next to you). Load space will put many estate cars to shame. The turbo diesel engine pulls strongly when required and is not troubled by Motorway inclines. It has been a really tough job to find a viable replacement, but the Roomster has been found to be a good, if smaller, alternative.

Here are the technical details;-

FIAT Doblo 1.9JTD ELX, Manual

Metallic Steel Grey, 1st Reg; November 2003, currently 27,500 miles

1910cc Turbo Diesel, 100bhp, Max speed 104mph, 0-62mph 12.0sec. Easily gives around 40 - 45mpg

Full FIAT service history with bills, serviced annually despite low mileage, Millers XFD 5w40 fully synthetic oil used

MOT and RFL (£140 per annum) to November '08

Front tyres are new (less than 1,000 miles) and rears only done about 6,000 miles.

Standard spec includes; 14" alloys (no scratches), Air-Con, remote central locking, Electric front windows, front fog lights, Radio/Cassette,

Factory options fitted; ABS, Rear Parking sensors, Electrically heated/adjustable door mirrors, metallic paint, mud flaps front & rear.

Additional accessories (available separately); set of OE spec sunblinds for rear passenger and load area windows, pair of FIAT roofbars.

The car is in excellent overall condition inside and out (non smoking household) with good shiny paintwork, but sadly one very small scratch to the driver's side rear door (from a supermarket trolley probably) that is only noticeable fairly close to the car.

Available mid/end July, depending on the delivery date of our Roomster (tbc).

Location; Knebworth, Herts off A1(M) junct 6/7

Price; £4,275 - reduced to £3,850

Pictures will be posted this weekend.

Here are a selection of pictures taken this afternoon;-

and these two show the small scratch to the driver's side rear door;-

NB> This is only a small dent/scratch; do not be concerned by the lines and angled dark section above the scratch; they are the reflection of some paving and the dark area is my front lawn!

A sensible amount of £140. Hope that helps.

Re: FIAT Doblo 1.9JTD ELX Nov 2003 '53 Metallic Silver 27,500 miles only

Does the AA badge come with the car?
Is it one that lights up?
Might be worth holding onto the badge as they are quite rare and collectable these days.

It's got 3x rear seatbelts judging from the pics
Is there a 3rd headrest or was that an option?
What are the service intervals?
and has it got a full size spare?
Discs all round or discs front and drums rear?
What is changing bulbs like?

Dammit I really should avoid the cars for sale thread!!!!
I quite like the Doblo as it looks manly and interesting compared to its french sister cars.
I thought the Roomster was the same size?

I've noticed there's no red section on the rev counter, does that mean you can rev it past 7000...........??

sorry; I know the rarity of AA badges, I'm keeping it.
Quote:

Is there a 3rd headrest or was that an option?
Yes; it has got a 3rd rear headrest as standard. I keep it under the rear seat out of the way as we rarely carry any rear passengers.
Quote:
What are the service intervals?
Annual or 20,000 miles. There is a 'low mileage' option in the schedule if like us you only do 6,000 per annum. As already stated it has been service annually (in November).
Quote:
and has it got a full size spare?
Yes; the spare is a 175/70 14 on a steel rim. The alloys fitted to the car have 195/65 14s.
Quote:
Discs all round or discs front and drums rear?
Discs front, drums rear. When Dobbie was new I found the braking performance not as good as I expected and even had my dealer check it; nothing wrong they are all like that, Sir.

I therefore, at about 4,000 miles fitted Ferodo DS2500 pads to the front discs (I had them in my Fabia and have since put them in my Octavia), which made a significant difference; brakes are now excellent. I still have the lightly worn OE pads if required.
Quote:
What is changing bulbs like?
Piece of cake. Certainly the main headlamp units have plenty of room to get at them and change bulbs. They are presently fitted with uprated bulbs (Phillip Blue Vision or Vision Plus or similar) to both dip and main, which will stay in.
Quote:

Dammit I really should avoid the cars for sale thread!!!!
I quite like the Doblo as it looks manly and interesting compared to its french sister cars.
I agree. It has a degree of 4x4 tonka toyness as opposed to French chic
Quote:
I thought the Roomster was the same size?
No, Roomster is smaller although bigger that the French alternatives e.g. Berlingo, Kangoo etc, these are a good 10% to 15% smaller both for load and passenger space. roomster I guess is 5% - 10% smaller than a Doblo.

When we bought Dobbie I needed a car to replace an Omega Estate and the Doblo was the only one to step up to the mark. You will not be disappointed.

I trust the above helps.

Thats helped a lot.
Just a few more questions
ABS?
How many miles to a tank
and has it got an accelerator cable or is it one of these "drive by wire" things?

Also just been viewing a few on Ebay and yours is a very good price, low miles and immaculate.

Can't remember, never had to use it. I'll check tonight when I'm at home.

Yeah, I know. I have always looked after my cars and Dobbie is no exception, also I like to be sensible and fair in terms of an asking price and agreeing a deal.

I'm at home this weekend if you wanted to come and have a look at it.

TBH I'd love a look although I really shouldn't!!!
The more opinions I get off friends saying its odd, hideous and I should buy something else makes me want one.

I'm gonna have a look at one in a local stealers to see what it's like.

I really wish I didn't have a test drive now
The stealers had the 120BHP one but the engine is basically the same.
Pulls nicely, refined, good to drive and a high comfy driving position.
Full size spare, nice enginebay so you should have enough room to change a bulb although the nearside one looks tight.

I really need to do my maths now.

the 120bhp one is the same engine as mine, just detuned, a remap should see 160bhp! lol...

good luck with the sale.

IIRC there are technical differences; but certainly the 100bhp 1.9JTD engine will comfortably re-map to c. 130bhp - if you want to.

yeah the 100bhp one is different (smaller turbo, and different fuelling system iirc) but 130bhp in Dobby would suprise a few people

Re: FIAT Doblo 1.9JTD ELX Nov 2003 '53 Metallic Silver 27,500 miles only

Not that it needs a remap
With that torque it'll pull well.
The 120 is very drivable but FIAT dont offer the cruise or a 6spd gearbox
Making the 100BHP engine the best buy.

A new one for £12k+ which looks french or the elder butch looking one.
I cant afford a new one
Damn you Bahnstormer!!!! did you have to advertise on here

I need to test drive the Roomster now. The Doblo looks good but the Roomster is just quirky and its Skoda!!
Too much thought!!

Bump; I have 'Dobbie' advertised on Autotrader at present at the same £3,850 as here, with a degree of interest and I'm fairly close to doing a deal.

However; Anyone interested?
