I've decided I can't qute afford the estate, lol! Plus not so much choice with the 2.0 tdi, all the good deals I see are 1.9 tdi's

Theres no real difference apart from an extra 40bhp (extra insurance and 6 less mpg) in the 2.0; and 5 speed in the 1.9 opposed to 6 in the 2.0. If you look around and are prepared to take a 50k mile car theyres some good prices on the 1.9. The 1.9 is a tank of an engine that will run for ever

I do 50 miles a day on the M62 as part of my 70 mile round commmute, would fancy the 6th gear and extra bit of grunt

Mind you, I'm tainted a bit, my first (and only... so far) skoda was a 1.9 sdi felicia, so an older generation of the same motor. Was an utterly abused and unloved car, but a 2001 and 70k miles, picked it up for £700 in January. It lasted 1 month and 3400 miles before giving up the ghost in a cloud of smoke! Just bad luck I know but still...

The 1.9 TDI is a different animal to the 1.9 SDI, the SDI was an old school diesel, 0-60 in 20 seconds wasnt it?

Going uphill you might never hit 60! Was the same engine as the mk3 golf tdi with the turbo ripped off I believe.

But yeah they are great since then, my dad had a tdi 130 passat 1.9 before, and now has a 1.9 105 octavia, i'm perfectly jealous enough!
