| Skoda Fabia VRs - Very Low Mileage - SOLD Due to serious illness and the loss of my right foot I am forced to sell one of the best cars I have ever owned. My Fabia is a joy to drive, powerful, comfortable (I am a big bloke!) and quiet for a car this small. Purchased new from Jewson's Oxford in August 2005 my car has spent most of it's days unused hence the very low mileage currently 6000 miles. The car has a full service history. Being very fastidious owner I had the engine and gearbox oils changed at 500 miles using Millars PD oil and their fully synthetic gearbox oil. The oil was again changed at the 1000 mile service and finally at 3000 miles in every case Millars PD was the oil of choice. Also fitted new on delivery was the latest Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB head unit - cost a small fortune - but worth every penny. AT 3000 miles a visit to AMD Teknic saw a Miltek Stainless Steel Exhaust including 2" Down-pipe, Sports Cat and K&N Air filter completing the installation. An hour spent on the rollers saw a comfortable output of 165 Bhp ad 245flb's before the remap. Andy at AMD ran my car on the rollers before any work was undertaken to ensure the motor and transmission were in good working order, as standard an easy 141 Bhp was indicated. Andy explained that a standard PD130 motor output could vary between 120 Bhp and a really good one showing up-to 145 Bhp. An hour on the rollers an very healthy 194 Bhp a torque curve that would credit a tractor was indicated without any sign of stress whatever, water temperature remaining planted dead center. After further discussion with Andy he again remapped the ecu this time the Bhp was reduced to 180 and torque to 265 flbs I was concerned that the clutch and transmission could be damaged. Andy explained that the transmission was quite capable of handing in excess of 250bhp the problem area being the clutch. A standard clutch was getting near it's limit around 190 bhp for use on track days and hard road use he recommended an AP heavy duty clutch and uprated drive shafts. The engine tuned to 225bhp could run a whole seasons racing without problem. As I neither wanted to go to track days or abuse the car on the road (my boy racer days long gone) the setup I settled for would be more than adequate for my needs. Andy was of the opinion that as the the miles increase and the engine bedded down there could easily be another 5 to 10Bhp to be had without further adjustment. As a Pd engine can take up-to 20,000 miles to fully bed-in. Andy further suggested that I bring the card back around 10,000 miles for a final remap. I have to say that the 60 mile journey was a revelation the car now came on boost around 1500 rpm from 1800 rpm afterburners were lit, smooth quiet sledgehammer acceleration was a flex of the ankle away. 5th & 6th gears are totally addictive. On the motorway accelerating in the outside lane saw oncoming cars seemingly shrink to a dot behind me. The look of sheer astonishment on face of a new Golf GTi driver was priceless. I slowed down and pulled back into the middle lane so that I could do it again - "wicked" So If your looking for a true unobtrusive giant-killer a proper "Q" Car you've found it. | Briskodian | Re: FOR SALE: Skoda Fabia VRs - Very Low Mileage Hi sorry to hear your news, I'm sure you'll soon adapt. A friend in Edinburgh has hand controls fitted to his Fabia I could find out more if you wish, he has been in a chair for several years so the seats take a bit of punishment throwing the chair into the passenger side but it's all holding together well. |
