Did you get an Octy in every colour there?

Gutted I couldn't make it - but it is a bit too far for me.

Might see you Southener's some other time though

Re: Star Inn, Newbury - Friday 4th April

Slightly OT but internet charges for me for last week were around 150 quid - and that's not the highest I've paid by a fair distance as well.. Some of the so-called 24 hour tickets have a 100Mbit (!!) limit so I run out in an hour or two tops and cant do some of the tasks I have to do for my job.

Happens I guess

Sorry I couldnt make it, but being on the ferry still just waiting to disembark kinda stopped me

Re: Star Inn, Newbury - Friday 4th April

I got back about half twelve. Pootled back fairly slow (i.e at speed limit or just above )

Gas must have run out at the pub too, as I only managed 58mpg on the way home compared to 74 on the way to Newbury. Same driving.

Re: Star Inn, Newbury - Friday 4th April

Certainly was an entertaining drive back! I think I can be crowned the roundabout king though!!

I think me and Alan confirmed that our cars perform identically on the straights, but mine is faster around corners!

Don't remember being suprised by anyones performance though

Tbh, you only really left me at one roundabout when I miss judged how far away the roundabout was and braked too hard. I also thought your car was slightly faster than mine in a straight line, you certainly seemed to pull away or catch me up, or were you changing gear?

I don't either, I overtook smstext coming off one roundabout, he'd sneaked up the inside and had gone past me whilst I was still accelerating onto the roundabout, still cruised past him in second gear below the speed limit.

Oh and Tigger and Paige, sorry I know we were supposed to be in convoy but I'd already told you I was in a playful mood so when Tom decided to play too it was game on. Sorry.

Re: Star Inn, Newbury - Friday 4th April

poor tiger and paige got left back at greenham park behind the oap's. not a good bit of road in the dark if you dont know it too well i must admit, but A34 is a nice stretch especially if you listen to the talex device

did you find the garage mate on the A4?

Nah, that stretch a little later in the journey where we stretched our legs, we were exactly identical in performance, on that private road all the way from 70 odd to possibly double that...

I think mine may have seemed to have the legs on yours due to my roundabout skillz... ESP off of course, brake quite late, keep it on the threshold of ABS cutting in, blip the throttle by heel and toeing on the down changes, flick left and balance the throttle while flicking right, a hint of wheelspin and back right off the gas to kick the back end out a touch and back into line, feed the power in nice and smoothly and unleash the beast... oh I was in heaven!!!

EDIT - oh yes,I was definitely using the gearbox to its full potential
