| Combining Meets I have noticed that the meet that is organised in Maidstone gets a relatively low turnout and the 'LB' meet that we have in the Basingstoke area tends to bring out the regulars but only a few new faces so what about combining our efforts and have a joint meet somewhere off the M25 perhaps near Leatherhead or Guildford?. I know that the Friday traffic would be a bit heavy but it could be worth it just so that we can meet up with some new faces. What do you think chaps?.

| Re: Combining Meets Guildford is one option but we need to find out where most are coming from and find a central meet location, other suggestions as to as venue are most welcome. We may even entice the London folk to come out and join us too!!.

| Re: Combining Meets It's the next Jcn along, but more importantly we need to find a decent venue with good food which is'nt too difficult to get to, so if anyone lives or works in these ares please let us know what you can recomend.

| Re: Combining Meets Seems like a good idea. go for it Unfortunately for me Leatherhead is another 45 minute drive from the Maidstone meet, which pushes my journey time to 1.5 hrs each way. ![]()

| Re: Combining Meets Have been doing a bit of investigating and a the 'halfway' point is at the top of the A3 where it meets the M25 so I'll look for a pub in that area and set a date for a Friday early June. What d'ya reckon?.

meet on the first Friday monthly.I notice you mention a half way point however you seem to be using Maidstone as the starting point from this end.As Steve has already mentioned we have a 45 minute journey to Maidstone and it was chosen to be reasonably central in Kent.We live in Dover, I work until 6pm if I am lucky I can get away from work by 6.10 so your suggestion means that we will be unable to attend.Nice idea but you may kill off one meet to realise it. | Briskodian | Re: Combining Meets Top of A3 would be ok as I can get straight up there, however tbh depending on where it is I think that might be a bit to far for me. Over 50 miles there means an extra 30 back which would reduce my interest after a hard day.

| Re: Combining Meets Sounds the right sort of area, Think there are some nice pubs in Effingham, or seem to remember a former work mate who lived round there saying there was. |

| Re: Combining Meets why not just have it as an additional meet, the more the better, the leather bottle is bi-monthly, so why not give guilford/leatherhead a go for the alternate month.

| Re: Combining Meets To be honest no , we are trying another venue this month in Newbury to see if that pulls in some new faces and once that's out of the way we'll have a look at doing one mid June in the Guildford area.

| Re: Combining Meets Each new venue will bring new faces from the area you hold the meet. Conversely it will discourage others because of being further away. You will never get people from Swindon or Bristol attending the same meet as people from Dover or Ipswich. What we need is more meets rather than moving one group of people around the country to different venues. Anyone is welcome to arrange a meet. If you (that's the collective you reading this thread) feel your area is under-represented, all that is required is to find a suitable pub or similar venue, decide on a date, and post a thread. If it's successful, it can become a recurring event. |
