| Re: Isle Of Wight Briskoda Invasion Sat 14th Jan Good photo opportunities include Culver downs (overlooks south coast) also a nice pub up there. Blackgang view point car park (overlooks milly road up the west coast) Compton bay car park (surfing beach, views up to freshwater bay and mainland if clear) Alum bay car park (needles) Cowes seafront for sailing scenes, there is a coast road that joins cowes with gurnard that you can stop on. That's the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

| erm Brain Fade. Forgot to mentionprobably one of the best of Island Pubs THE CROWN at Showell. Mike & Sally are good hosts. Pub still has that village pub atmosphere, large car park. A couple of weeks ago their offer was, order from the specials menu and get a pud or soup free. Good range of beers. The Chequers outside Rookley is worth a look, large car park, food OK. A route suggstion ? From Fishbourne turn right at traffic lights. 1/2 mile The Sloop on right. Main road, at top of hill at traffic lights turn left, The Cedars on right (have not been there for years) The Carpenters farther on (ditto) turn left at the mini roundabout. Wind it up a bit. Watch for loonies joining from right, loonies from left maybe Skoda loonies, our Skoda garage is down there. If you need fuel pop along for some 1950'2 style service, the apprentice comes out to serve you, and take your MONEY, note NO CREDIT CARDS, cash or cheque!. If not continue straight on, mind the greasy bit through the woods. Straight ahead at mini roundabout, Hare & Hounds on left.*** If you want Downs scenery, Sandown, 2 or 3 greasy spoons at the bottom of the high street and a sea front pub, Go Left. If not continue to Tee junction and turn left (Arreton) White Lion on left. Through village , a couple of miles, Fighting ***** on right. If you want a real country lane turn right after the Fighting ***** to Godshill. If not right at next crossroads (or the one after) to mini roundabout, if you want Wroxall, the Worsley pub, Ventnor the coust road to Niton straight over, IF NOT trurn right to Godshill, The Griffin. Through village straight on where main road bears right (turn left off main road) to Whitwell, White Horse on right in village. Turn right after pub to Niton, White Lion, main road to Blackgang veiw point and Chale, Wight Mouse. Start of "Milli. Road" to Freshwater Bay, then either straight ahead to The Needles and Alum Bay, Totland Yarmouth, OR TURN Right to Freshwater, End of Line Cafe, not greasy spoon but afternoon tea and cakes. At Co-Op round about turn right, look for the church and Red Lion if you like, otherwise on to Yarmouth. Not much parking in Village Use Park & Walk on edge of village, The George is good and so is The Fountain. On main road to Shalfleet and Newport.(about 8 miles) at large round about go right down the dual carriageway (our motorway!!) keep in LH lane for Ryde, outside lane for Newport (or even Sandown if you want to go round again) The Ryde road takes you through Wooton Bridge to Fishbourne. If you come over by Red Funeral you join the route by turning left at the large roundabout about 2 miles outside East Cowes.AND THEN TURN RIGHT AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT THE CEDARS PUB If you want to venture further East The Pilot Boat on Bembridge Harbour is worth a visit, and so is The Battery at Puckpool, just outside Ryde. *** cancel keft turn, Council having a dig in, toad closed for a week or so!! If you really want to see Sandown, turn left at the first set of lights after you leave the ferry, follow signs until the set of lights at Yarbridge (pub Sign) turn left, then right at next mini roundabout along the sea shore into Sandown. The to Shanklin Ventnor etc. Sorry about that!! Have a nice Day Last edited by Smokey Six; 11-01-2006 at 17:16. |

| Re: Isle Of Wight Briskoda Invasion Sat 14th Jan Its an undercover mission - we sneak in, overthrow their ruler and get the hell outta there. ![]() It looks the weather should be "ok" - risk of light showers, but generally its looking like a nice overcast day.

| Re: Isle Of Wight Briskoda Invasion Sat 14th Jan Ahh i see - i didn't look at it in that way! Secret undercover mission sounds good to me. Do you think we can take over the island then? I'm not sure though if the yellow cars might give us away though? Hope the weather is good - don't like bad weather - makes me sad hehe |
