New Forest Summer Meet (with camping option) - 30/6/07

Ok the details are now firmed up after the feeler thread here:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/south.../3/#post896098

New Forest Meet.

When - 30th June 2007 leaving at about 9:30am
Where - West Wellow Service Station, Romsey Road, Ower (possibly SO51 6GF)
On the A36 on the roundabout of A3090 & A36, apparently not far off M27 J2

If there are a few people coming over from the IOW, I'd be happy to meet them at southampton docks and convoy over to ower.

There will be a treasure hunt in the morning, with some prizes (donations welcome) but this is optional and I'll leave the organising of this down to ScoobyChris

For those of you who want petrol stations I will try to compile a more complete list in the near future, however there are the following on the way or en route:

- A Shell station at Burley services on the A31 (one on both sides).
- Esso on both sides of the M27 at Rownhams services
- A BP on the way into Lymington.
- Shell in Lymington (33 Milford Road)
- Shell station in Southampton (Millbrook Road)

For those who may be camping, PostmanPat + Family, Sharkrider + Family and Gilly + Wibble are staying at this camp site:
As of 24/05/2007 there are still spaces here.

Green Pastures Caravan Park
Green Pastures Farm,
Ower,
Romsey,
Hampshire,
SO51 6AJ

Tel. 023 8081 4444
Contact: Jane or Tony Pitt

Green Pastures Farm , Romsey Campsite

The link is just from an information site online.

If you don't wish to camp and prefer a hotel, there are plenty of travel lodges and B&Bs etc. in the area.

There is also this hotel, which apparently is pretty nice too:

Jurys Inn Southampton - Southampton hotels

I'll provide a suggested route before the date, but it will definitely involve a pub lunch

WARNING!

The new forest has cattle grids and there is more than likely to be some debris on the road from time to time. Those you you with MK I VRS Octavias or other similarly low cars have been warned and should get the metal sump guards etc out now

Re: New Forest Summer Meet

I'm confused...

So I'm thinking...

1) Cheezemonkhai (including one for lunch) - is that just you or you and someone who is coming just for lunch?
2) ScoobyChris (possibly 2 for lunch) - that looks like Scoobs + 1 just for lunch
3) I think this makes me MissKia + 1 (2 for lunch) ?

Possibles:

TeflonTom

Re: New Forest Summer Meet

Treasure hunt is an optional

It will most likely happen on the way to lunch, such that those that want to do it can do it and those that don't can got straight to the pub

Will find out around the time whether I can make it, this is too far away to know which continent I'll be on, South Africa is tempting me a LOT right now

Much as I think an SA meet would be great I think the flights and shipping might be a bit pricey... Almost as much as a certain Isle of Wight Ferry company charge peak season

If people are not sure do stick yourselves down as possibles just so I can have some idea in the level of interest and whether to do the meet or can it with plenty of notice.

Re: New Forest Summer Meet

Only just seen this....
Priority is that I need to see if I'm working that weekend, and like Tom havent got my rota sorted yet as it is changing.
Second is that it may cost me about £54 to bring my car over.
Third is...I'm not sure if it is fair to bring SWMBO and the kids either, as I remember certain "brisk" driving from an earlier meet.....that was mucho enjoyable, so may escape alone for the day....which will be VERY early for me I might add
However with a Kia in attendance we best let her catch up
Sorry Hayley...couldnt resist!!
Where's Pixi and her old chap then??

I'm stifling the urge to comment on that

If we came over it would be Wightlink Yarmouth way and yes it is very early I will confirm nearer the time.

Re: New Forest Summer Meet

Stick yourself on the possibly list then

I think there might be two groups, a brisker one probably led by Chris and a less rapid one led by "Mr I'm not keeping up with the brisky convoy at that speed" (me) which would be more suited to people with families.

I'm hoping to be able to make the day suitable for those with families in the car
