£50 of Halfords Vouchers to Spend. Mmmmmmmmmmm

As it was my birthday thursday, my brother gave me £50 worth of halfords vouchers.

I would like to start giving my car a bit more love when cleaning. I get my car washed at the CAR SPA, now when i get home what can i do to get that better look.

Can you help me spend my vouchers, any recommendations on what halfords available products to buy ?

Correct, i get the car washed down the road here:
Professional Car Wash and Valet Service in Birmingham

Reason being I live in a flat and no outside water tap.

Ussually have it washed and glossed, then drive home and then do the bits they missed, which is very small.

Been looking at the Meguiars range.

1. Smooth Clay bar kit
2. Deep Crystal Carbuca Wax - Step 3
3. Deep crystal Polish - Step 2
4. Deep crystal Paint Cleaner - Step 1
5. Soft Applicator Pads
6. Endurance High Gloss Tyre Shine

Bugga is, the 3 for 2 offer has ended.

Clay bar is on ebay for £10 and £22.00 in Halfords.

Whats the difference with Wax and Sealant ? (n00000by me)

I'd get the cleaning products off the internet and spend the fifty notes on a Halfords 12V rapid air pump and pressure guage. Marvelous.

Halfords cleaning products are pretty basic to be honest, having a look on Detailingworld for better products. Spend the vouchers on something else.

Re: £50 of Halfords Vouchers to Spend. Mmmmmmmmmmm

The megs 3 stage paint system 1 & 2 are good but while 3 looks quite good it doesn't last very long.

I'd get 1 and 2 then get something like a hard paste wax online.

How about using the vouchers to get oil and ordering yourself a kit and some bits from Elite Car Care or similar

Re: £50 of Halfords Vouchers to Spend. Mmmmmmmmmmm

I honestly wouldn't bother with the Megs part 3 wax as it really isn't at all durable. That is especially so if you don't use the paint cleaner.

The part 1 paint cleaner and part 2 polish are IMHO pretty good for off the shelf stuff though.

I thought the claying would eliminate stage 1 ?

Ill have another look at the waxes when I collect tomorrow.

Re: £50 of Halfords Vouchers to Spend. Mmmmmmmmmmm

I'd have a look on detailing world to confirm, but after claying you wash and then use a paint cleaner to prep things.

Even if you don't need stage 1, the stage 3 hardly lasted a month on a car I did with it.

Collinite is a good, inexpensive and hard wearing wax or the dodo juice ones are supposed to last quite well and look quite nice too.

Like I said a lot more on DW than I know as I've only just started to get into this expensive hobby.

A motorfactors I went in had these 100% extra free. A 1 litre bottle of shampoo for £3.99 I think and SRP 1 litre for £7.99 I think. Halfords 3 for 2 isn't on at the moment.

Don't mean to hijack the thread (sorry ), but is the AG extra gloss protection/sealant thingy worthwhile after the SRP, and would you put a wax on top of that?

Yes to the above. Wash/Clay/Polish/Sealant/Wax is the usual detailing order
