Wink Accidentally debadged!

The Octy was hit from behind several weeks ago, during snowy conditions (see http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showp...2&postcount=12). Repair took place last week, and all seemed to look fine and dandy.

Then I got a call from the repair shop yesterday.

"Your badges have arrived, sir."

"Badges? What badges?"

"Well, didn't you have your boot lid resprayed with us last week?"

"Uh, why, yes."

"Well, we had to remove your Octavia and 4x4 turbo badges for that. The replacement badges didn't get here in time so we sent you out without them."

"Really? I hadn't even noticed! So you are telling me I'm driving a debadged car right now?"

"Yes sir, your car is incognito as of last week. Do you actually prefer it that way?"

"Do I? I'd need some time to think about that..."

"That's perfectly OK, sir. You can come by any time if you still want them put back on."

And I'm still thinking! I always found the de-badging thing a nonsense. Why hide the fact that I'm driving a 4x4 turbo? People have a right to know why they got beaten in a straight line or around the corner...

But having seen the Octy's badgeless behind, I now think it looks quite cool!

So shall I, or shan't I?

No No No!!

People HAVE to know what obliterated them.So much fun when you can see passengers of following vehicles laughing at their embarrassed driver

Wear your badge with pride

Rebadge!!! Just to balance things out

If you've paid for a 4x4 turbo let people know about it!!!

Just out of interest, do you have a picture of it debadged?

I've been wondering off and on for a week or two now what it would look like, but I keep coming to the conclusion that it would just look too plain.

I like the cleaner debadged look and also the fact it's a street sleeper now For ultimate street sleeper-ness get a 1.4-16v badge for it

Rebadge to 1.4 16V! It adds insult to injury when other drivers see what has just overtaken them!

Mine's debadged partially . They'll work out it's the vRS as it still has the Fabia one, just the vRS bit has been removed. If they could get past they'd still see the vRS logo on the front though

Main reason I've done it - avoid boyracers. Don't mind a little laugh but for the normal commute it's something I can do without really

Mine's debadged - stops the Barries racing you as much.

Easier to polish too.

Will post one tonight.

Meanwhile, it's still a tussle between the clean look (which looks better than I thought) and the fact that I want people to know it's a 4x4 turbo, i.e. a serious bit of machine instead of some 1.6 poser with big alloys.

OTOH, I often had people wondering about the 4x4 and/or the turbo bit. They thought I'd been to Halfords and couldn't believe Skoda actually do a 4x4 turbo!

I hopefully pick my Octy VRS up tomorrow, and was thinking about whipping the badges off. Not sure how it would look with two round holes though.....

Apparently there's a Skoda badge on the engine cover, and if you take that off there's a VW one underneath ! I'll be looking for that tomorrow

Cheers

TBH, running an Elegance TDI I don’t really have that consideration!

Does anyone experience this? ever since I bought my vRS every toy racer in Yorkshire seems to want a race, I purposefully drive at 50 mph on the motorway and they are still waiting with their cheesy fog lights on.

Yes, I too have been a victim of this "skod-rage"...

I got it when I got the car... then when I had the boggo spec Octy and Superb, back when I had the bother with my Fab, I got no Saxos trying to hump my back bumper... so when I got the Fab back I removed the rear vRS badge, hey presto, no more w@nkers sitting on my back bumper. Plus far more amusing when you boot it, choke them and leave them wondering why a standard Fabia just ditched them

Mine was debadged, but decided I actually like the chrome "Fabia" badge against the black paintwork so its been rebadged but not with the vrs badge

It does seem to stop more people from wanting to race you, as the car looks fairly discrete from the back and i also think it might stop some unwanted attention from thieving scumbags.

I like that - nice and clean

But I'd never remove the Skoda badge

Hair dryer, heat the badge, lift it off, then various things will get the remaining adhesive off - bug and tar shifter is probably easiest, but WD40 works too if that's all you've got kicking around...
