| Briskodian | Re: Acid #8 1k Etch Primer for chrome grill Exactly what I thought! Waiting to hear back from a mate who works for Audi who might be able to get it done for trade price. I'm tempted to do it myself at this rate! |

I simply cleaned the chrome, scotch padded it, primed it with the grey stuff (etch primer?) and then painted the colour | |

| Briskodian | Re: Acid #8 1k Etch Primer for chrome grill Or thinking about it, is this the same from halfords as I have one down the road: U-POL Etch Primer from Halfords Price £10.99 and Simoniz Clear Acrylic Laquer 500ml from Halfords Price £7.29 or: Halfords Clear Lacquer 500ml from Halfords Price £6.49 Only thing that makes me wonder with the primer is: **Can be applied to the following surfaces: Bare steel, Aluminium, Galvanised and zinc coated steels, Fully cured paints, polyester body fillers and GRP How would those do from halfords? |

| Briskodian | Re: Acid #8 1k Etch Primer for chrome grill All prepared for Friday night!! Going to sand it down and wash it. Hopefully I can either get the chrome off or at least rough enough for the primer to take well. Then apply 3-4 layers of primer, sanding with 1200 grit paper in between. Leave overnight. Saturday morning, 2-3 coats of colour... again sanding down with 1200 grit. Sand down last coat till matt. Sunday morning 4-5 layer of lacquer (it's gonna get chipped to hell on the front of the car) Sunday night fit / go for a hoon! ![]() £23 in total for the equipment! ![]() |

| Briskodian | Re: Acid #8 1k Etch Primer for chrome grill Ok it's pretty much complete now! Going to do a full write up of what I did when it's fitted to the car later on!! The lacquer has been left for 24 hours now. Would it be wise to give it a coat or two of wax before fitting it onto the car? Just as extra protection before the lacquer fully hardens in the next few weeks. |
