| (Lots of questions so Ill number it all to make life easier!) Hi all, just looking for some alloys and on a low ish budget. I went to halfrauds today to get some ideas and seen some nice ones for about £370. I have a Fabia Comfort 2001 and dont really want to lower it as I cant afford to do this so the alloys have to be a direct replacement. 1) My current tires are 185/60/R14 and was told that if I were to go to 15inch wheels I would need 195/50/R15 tires to keep the same over all size - is this right? 2) Also, would 17's go on ok without lowering and look ok as I might pay the extra? 3) Would I need a different spare or would my 185/60/14 work as a spare just incase. 4) I noticed that both halfrauds and motorworld have "Fox" alloys in, and was told by a friend that these are made of a very cheap alloy and mark very easy - is this true? 5) Is "Wolf race" a decent brand as I seen some of these that I really like! I know there is alot of questions but these things are alot of £££'s so I dont want to blow it all on something that isnt any good, and Im sure you guys will help me make the right decision! Heres a pic of my car incase you need it. ![]() Thank you in advance... Mike Pembo |

| Re: Another Alloys Post I have a set of Fabia vRS alloys in brand new condition with 1000 mile old Bridgestone Turanza (OEM vRS) tyres on them for sale... They'll fit straight on fine, they came off my 06 vRS when it was 2 months old. Price I am looking for is around your budget too, and you won't have to lower the car either, AFAIK the only difference between your suspension and vRS suspension is the spring rate (i.e. how stiff the springs are).

| Re: Another Alloys Post Mike......The wifes Silverline Estate, on 185/60/14 now wears my Furbie vRS wheels with 205/45/16 Tyres and in my opinion the road holding has been transformed. Holds the road alot better and made the steering a little heavier as we thought it was too light. When these tyres need changing might try 215/40/16 as the tyres are alot cheaper. Still carry the 14" steel spare as it's almost the same rolling radious.........It's a "Get u Home".........Will post some piccies tommorow if you remind me....Hope this Helps........Andy...[.PS I have 7.5X17 Fox Alloys on my vRS................Good wheels, there as good as any other] Last edited by ag.morley; 23-10-2006 at 21:17. | Re: Another Alloys Post Started to look at 16's now and just struggling to find branded tires in the north east - They seem to run at the same price as 17's. Still, 17's look too big for my liking and would cause me too many problems. So, has anyone had any problems getting 16" tires? Thanks all! Mike Pembo |

| Re: Another Alloys Post How about order from mytyres.co.uk, then get a local garage to fit them. I also drive a green 1.4 16v, and fitted a set of VRS alloys. Well pleased. Louis

| Re: Another Alloys Post Did you see my post about the 16" vrs wheels I have for sale, Pembo? They already have nearly new tyres fitted. Take the wheels and tyres for £450!

| Re: Another Alloys Post Mike, try C&S tyres in Boro. I use them for replacing my tyres. Got my 205/45 16 Toyo T1-R's from them. Will be getting some 205/40 17 T1-R's from them pretty soon too. ![]()

| Re: Another Alloys Post C&S tyres have quoted me £75 each for Toyo T1-R 205/40 17's. That's pretty reasonable I think.

Im still confuzled as to 16's or 17's so I might wait till after winter to make my choice. Ive heard lots of different pros and cons for people so here they are: Pros for 17's They look mint You wouldnt be dissapointed with the size Low profile tires easy to get Quite easy to sell on Cons for 17's Slightly bigger rollout radius, resulting in speedo alteration and loss of acceleration performance Would probably need lowering to look decent Pros for 16's Doesnt need lowering as the rollout is about the same No loss of acceleration performance Speedo isnt knocked out Cons for 16's Dont look as "wow" as 17's Id probably always wish Id payed extra and got 17's Not as "sellable" as 17's Harder to get tires for Choices, Choices, Choices Hence the reason why Ill wait a bit and make sure I have the money to spend. I even seen a non vRS furby on the site with 16's unlowered and it looked quite high still. I was originally looking at 15's but after seeing 17's I felt "whats the point". Thanks everyone for the help | |

| Re: Another Alloys Post Mike - it's because the time on the server went a bit wonky. If you head over to the Site Feedback section, you'll see I posted about it last night. Then I had replies about it above my first post! ![]() Scary ![]() ![]() Steve P.S. Fair point about the 55 profile, hadn't noticed that - would knock your speedo reading out slightly and will be a bit more comfy Steve
