With great care

Try a hairdryer on the badge to soften the glue and prise it of slowly at the same time.

Hair dryer and dental floss, then some kind of gunk remover on the residue.

Fishing line can be used without the need for warming up - tough fishing line cuts through the badge adhesive very nicely. Then just need to spend some time cleaning the gunk off the boot, which comes off with a good strong thumb nail and some cleaning off with a cloth and some gunk - I used white spirit.

Dental floss works without heating up too. The advantage to heating up is less residue. I'd also avoid the strong thumbnail method as that can leave tiny scratches, good polish afterwards would sort them though.

Yep I'll second the dental floss / fishing line. Just carves through the sticky pad like a cheese wire.
