Thumbs up Been doing some styling mods today...

I'll let the piccies do the talking...

First of all, this is how I started... The car is in a right f***in' state at the moment, but never mind, all will be well + tidy soon enough. This is my existing TDI rear end.

Started by removing this bit of trim. Not quite sure why but all this trim had to be removed to allow access to the lights... Turns out the lights cover up two of the 25mm torx screws needed to be undone to release the bumper, so out came the 8mm socket to remove the light fittings complete.

If you **** your head on your left shoulder, you'll see the left hand light fitting has been removed and is left hanging on the wires. I eventually got around to disconnecting it entirely and shoving the unit in the boot.

Ahem, **** your head on your left shoulder (this'll teach me to upload photos before reviewing them ) and this is the right hand light fitting also removed.

So, OEM bumper off. I'm kind of liking this look now... Nice to be able to see this view of my car, without it being a wreck in a field, up on wooden blocks.

So, new bumper is clipped in place. Anyone recognise the style? Had some "issues" to resolve, which I'm not gonna go into until the morning when I go to check if my DIY went well or not. Suffice to say I came across some LARGE stumbling blocks. But the good bits was all the top Torx 25 clips went in fine, along with the ones in the top part of the rear wheel arch. However the ones at the bottom did NOT, due to a distinct presence of a hole in my OEM bumper and the same holes on this bumper being about 12" out! I think my "temporary repair" will be good for the long run though.

And this is how my powerflow twin outlet tailpipe looks at present. I knew it would need moving to suit, but wasn't really sure how much. I think it's gonna have to be raised a good couple of inches, and its gonna need extending by a good 6 inches to stick out the gap properly. Currently its sat way under the bumper.

I'm not gonna bother explaining the bit of cardboard wedged between the bodywork and the exhaust, or what that trolley jack on the right hand side is doing (its NOT lifting the car up before anyone says! ) Hopefully in the morning that bit of cardboard, that jack, and three bricks and more card added later will have done the job my "temporary repair" was supposed to do... Only Ross will know precisely what I'm referring to, after I consulted him worriedly on the phone. Thanks for your advice mate.

Skirt is way to low.

The top edge of the skirt should run along flush with the top edge of the indent for the rubbing strip.

Whats the colour match like Jason?

As Ross says that skirt doesn't look right. But looks better overall. Think you need to give the exhaust a bit of a clean.

Well, unfortunately I didn't bond the two bits together. I thought I was going to be doing that part of the job (had the sticky gunk ready and everything), but when it arrived it has already been bonded together as you see above. Gonna have to find something to infill the gap with. Any ideas?

Exhaust needs a damn good clean, as does the whole car. The colour match isn't bad, but the new bumper is slightly lighter. Once I got the car out the unit, it was a litte bit obvious, but once I clean the dirty original bodywork and let the new bumper get a bit mucky, it should be ok.

Heading back this afternoon to see how my forced use of pu-flex instead of torx screws went along.

Well, I went back this afternoon and it would appear my glueing has worked to a point... To the point of doing *cough* 70mph on the dual carriageway and its not flapping about at the bottom end. I really need to get the exhaust tweaked though, and find something to shove in that gap! The more I look at the more I dislike it. Not sure I'd want something black in there though, would have to be a strip of something sprayed silver too. Also, the mudflaps issue is annoying me too, but I may have the solution, thanks for the PM you know who you are.

What I found MOST shocking was the vRS bumper bottom end is HIGHER than the TDI one! It would appear as the TDI bumper slides back inwards at 45 degrees or so it gives the impression its higher than the vertical end of the vRS bumper... but actually the vRS one is about 2" higher! Never thought I'd have to raise the exhaust pipe...

Now I'm just hoping my glue sticks and holds, which Ross assures me, quote, "It will stick anything to anything!"

Well, it's still a Fabia bumper, just the holes didn't match at the bottom.

I'm gonna have to do something about getting the bumper blended in, or similar, because the more I look at it, the more obvious it is the colour of diamond metallic silver is a fair bit paler than the rest of the rear wings. Hope thats not gonna cost too much.

Can't wait until I get exhaust in its rightful position too.
