Black Magic Paint & Porter Cable

Hi guys,

I have a Porter Cable and a few polishes I use to get Black Magic paint looking alright again. Was just wandering what combination of pads and products people on here use, as I want to do my car again.

On my car I use a 4" cutting pad with Meguiars Scratch X to cut into the paint. Then I'll use a 6" medium pad and AG Ultra Deep Shine to get the shine back. I'll then finish off with Zymol HD Clense and Zymol Carbon.

On another car that needs doing I'm suggesting they use a 4" pad with AG Paint Renovator (never used this with a PC before so not sure how dull the paint wil be afterwards), followed by 6" meduim pad and AG Ultra Deep Shine, then protected by AG Extra Gloss Protection.

Has anyone used AG Paint Renovator with a PC before? I've used it by hand and found it worked well but it did dull the paint quite a bit and was hard work bringing the shine back. In contrast, I've used Meguiars Scratch X and it didn't dull the paint too noticeably and bringing the shine back wasn't a problem. I don't want to guo out buying more products, just want to use what I have and the other person has, but was just wandering what combinations people use.

Some very impressive results there, but do you know what pads/polishes he used?

Re: Black Magic Paint & Porter Cable

I guess it depends how bad your paint is.

Last year I did the following with good results

Wash
Clay
PC with Yellow SFX pad Menzerna Intensive polish, slow cut method.
PC with White SFX pad using Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish
PC with Blue SFX pad using Blackfire wet diamond.

Unfortunately the BWD didn't last too long so I topped off with Chemical Guys XXX wax which can be a little tricky if applied too thick.

Then in Winter I used Collinite 476S on top and it lasted a good 6 months 'til April this year

Seeing the paintwork was in good nick with very little swirls (I'm very careful when washing drying) I used the PC with white pad Carlack which is the same as Klasse All in One (AIO) which is a paint cleaner / sealant and then topped off by hand using the Carlack Long Life Sealant, which is same as Klasse Sealant.

The results are excellent for a sealant and after a few more thin coats it was superb! The beading is not as good a a good canauba wax but the finish is the best I've seen from a Sealant to date.

I've now topped off with Collinite 476S for winter which should last until next year now.

These pictures is were taken after using Carlack twins

Re: Black Magic Paint & Porter Cable

Id be careful with AG paint renovator as its quite abrasive.
Id honestly get some Menzerna polishes and use those as they always leave a good finish and work well on hard VAG paint

Meguiars 80 or 83 I use, 80 should be enough.
