Clean Wheels

Having decided to keep my BBSes and re-fit them, last week I properly cleaned them over two evenings. 3hrs total work.

1. Rinsed down and washed with Meg's NXT shampoo and an old washmitt.
2. Thoroughly attacked with Virosol citrus degreaser at 1:10 strength and a combination of another washmitt, Halfords thin wheel brush and the EZ-Brush.
3. Dried down with a terry towel.
4. The next evening, I then treated them to a coat of Collinite 476. Applied with a Meg's applicator pad and removed and buffed with a Poorboy's MF work towel.

I'm really pleased with the results. The fleck has come out with the application of the Collinite they now bead nicely when wet Some issues remain - a few really stubborn tar spots on the insides and the remains of a couple of wheel balance weights. So not perfect, but I'm happy

Some pics:

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Clean Wheels

Yet to have one to provide you with squire! They went on a slightly mucky car, so a photo wasn't deserved. I'll have to refer you to an earlier photo, when the wheels aren't quite as clean as they are now

Will sort some fresh ones when she's next washed

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Clean Wheels

Very very nice fella........ They really do suit the vRS in my opinion.

Would you believe me if i said you told me on here that you'd come over and do ours for us too?????? If you can't remember it must have been a time when you were very very drunk.

Worth a try.

Cheers

Dave.

Re: Clean Wheels

might you be referring to a moment of madness I had on 22nd Jan this year at 14:50?
http://briskoda.net/off-topic-chit-c...equired/99688/

Seriously Dave, I like a drink but I'm not that bad

But if you're ever over in Manchester and at a loose end, I know a decent cleaning facility

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Clean Wheels

I remembered the offer and didn't take me too long to track down the exact details. Sometimes I think I know this place too well

Cheers for the compliment mate - I think yours gets treated pretty damn well too

Re: Clean Wheels

That looks Good Steve, I've always liked those, my mate had them on his Bora as standard and I considered a swap at one point.

If the tar spots really get you down either use a clay bar or Autosmart Tardis on it, I'm waiting on a new bottle coming so if you like i'll stick some in a wee bottle for you.

Re: Clean Wheels

Cheers Derek

Not too many spots left, so I'm happy. I have used clay to remove those from sills etc before, so know they're good for the job

Not tried Tardis before, but I've heard good things about it...

Cheers,
Steve
