Have you found any good products for removing scratches and swirls? I've tried scratch X and Quick clay from Meguiars but not with much success - especially the swirls and not sure what is best for skoda paint (Octavia VRS in Rally red).
To be honest the best thing for removing swirls is either a rotary or a PC.

I am selling my rotary on Tuesday to someone as I don't really use it and could use the money for better things.

I noticed last night under car park lights that my bonnet is a mess with swirls! When the car had some bodywork done (before I owned it) I think the bodyshop have buffed it, but not very well!

I am going to try and remove my swirls by hand - or at least mask them with a filler polish and put the wax over the top.

I have heard that Autoglym Super Resin Polish is about the best product for masking swirls by hand - use 3 or 4 coats, and work in areas roughly 18" square at a time.

Then you will need to put a good layer of wax (i'm just going to use the Natty's again) to keep the protection.

Post up your results

Cheers,
Steven.

Cleaned My Octavia

I finally found time to do the works on my Octavia today.

Started with a wash with Jeff's Werkstatt Auto Body Wash
then a full clean with Meguiars Quik Clay
next was a polish using Jeff's Prime Carnauba
and finally protected with Poorboy's Nattys Paste Wax

Took me around 6 hours and I am knackered!

I am really pleased with the finish...and worryingly I find the smell of the Meguiars Quik Detailer spray and the Natty's paste wax really nice

Tried to take some photos but my phone isn't too hot when the light is fading.

I'll get some better ones soon (if it disnae rain!).

Superb stuff mate, good work! Great choice of products there too, really like the Jeff's stuff and Natty's always seems to give good results too.

Looks like you've got some good reflections going on too, not always easy with a flat paint.

And yes, you're not the only one who likes the smell of decent car cleaning stuff

Steve
