Default Detail/PorterCabled the Octy (Not 56k!)

Having not had a chance to give the motor a good clean-up sine the few months I've had her I caught up with one of the guys on detailingworld local to me (thanks Alex ) to get the car detailed and portercabled, mainly to see what I could achieve with the blemishes without having to get her touched in. I was impressed and pleased with the results, particulalry on the swirls.

Bonnet before:

Door handle scratches:

Bonnet half & half - after only one PC application. Some deeper swirls but still very improved:

Door after:

Me picking fleas from my hair:

Looking good (the car!)

And again:

I must be getting old - I enjoyed cleaning a car for a whole day and now I'm posting pics

The PC was a ruddy good bit of kit and I'm tempted to invest myself. The only downside, if you could call it that, is that the super shine can highlight small blemishes like supermarket dings!
Overall I'm dead chuffed with the results

Jason, they're a bloody friendly bunch on the forum, you'll need to register to follow the link that follows but it'll take you to a list of people willing to detail/PC and includes a Frappr map.

Looks great that, good work

Again, I'm very tempted by a PC but it's a far chunk of cash to spend. Decisions, decisions

In particular, it's a dual action polisher rather than a rotary polisher, in that the polishing head oscillates randomly about a fixed point as the polishing head spins which means is that friction is vastly reduced at any given point of contact, which reduces the risk of burning the paint or removing too much clear coat (a big danger with rotary polishers apparently).

Some more explanation here, along with other incredibly detailed guides:

Nice results.

Saw your thread on Detailingworld. They are very helpful and very pro-PC but I guess the results speak for themselves!

Just ordered my PC yesterday as I've spent hours on mine trying to get rid of the minor swirls on mine without success by hand.

It looks like the only option....

nice results, and Alex has done you a brill detail! good pics included.

The PC is an excellent, many detailers will also use a rotary, but like my PC TBH.

Yes, it's the 7424 model but you will need different backing plate and pads. I purchased mine from http://www.autopia-carcare.com

Dave,

I guess you ave to buy a separate transformer so the PC can work in the UK?

The one in the link that Stu posted has everything.....PC/transformer/different pads, counter weights discs and polish......how doe sthe price of £280 all in compare to what youve ordered?

You can PM the details if you prefer.

Cheers.
