Fabia headlamp protectors

Just ordered mine today - cost £32...

I also popped my head round to the service dept. asking about enabling the "alarm armed" beep. The guy said it could be done, but it depends on your software version, implying that (presumably) earlier models can't have this enabled.

If I wanted to get it done straight away, it would cost me £20 to get it hooked upto VAG-COM, version checked and changed, but I could wait for my service where they'll have to plug in, anyway, and it wouldn't cost me anything more...

Has anyone else encountered this?

Mine is an 04 with the beeping alarm. I'm getting mine turned off asap.

It's probably the most annoying beep ever.

What's the matter with it? Surely it beeps once to let you know it's armed, and that's it?

Think I'd prefer to have it on, so at least I'd know when the alarm's armed. Does it also beep when you disarm the alarm?

It beeps once for armed and twice for disarmed. so you can really annoy people with lock/unlock and opening the boot

Had mine turned on - liked it for about 3 hours then waited 6 weeks to have it turned off - it was hell - don't do it!

It is an irritating beep like on a watch alarm, only louder. It gets annoying if you are constantly unlocking doors, although it is handy when you lock the door as you can do it as you walk away and this tells you that it has locked.

That's the reason why I want to have it enabled!

Don't think it'll bother me - won't be constantly locking/unlocking doors all the time!

YAY! Got my headlamp protectors the other day and fitted them! They're (sort of) cool and definitely worth the £30 or so (rather than fork out for a stone-smashed headlamp unit). Only problem is, not convinced that they'll stay on...anyone have problems?
